So the gist is this: Holy Basil is supposed to function as a kind of adaptogen. Basically, it gives your body a small amount of "stress" and in doing so it helps your body in a variety of ways to deal with stress responses, fatigue, general wellbeing, etc. In particular, Holy Basil may or may not boost testosterone levels in a small way, which is a great benefit for any lifter/gym rat. That said, there was not *tangible* difference in subjective feeling when on Holy Basil. And it's not just Zazzee, but *any* Holy Basil. Zazzee's product, however, did look clean. I opened up a capsule as well, and the filling looked like what I would expect Holy Basil to look like. But overall, you have to decide if you think it is worth experimenting with, or if Holy Basil is another flash-in-the-pan type supplement with a lot of hype but not a lot of bang. Read more

I started taking holy basil about a year ago, but haven’t tried many brands. What caught my eye on Zazzee was that it had more holy basil, had several certifications (i.e., Non-GMO, gluten free, GMP, etc.) and it is manufactured in the USA. I wasn’t sure I needed a stronger holy basil supplement, but I wanted to give it a try as I had good results with the one that I have liked the most so far (from Pure Mountain Botanicals).These holy basil pills are packaged like most others and are in a capsule. They aren’t much larger than the ones I normally take, but the little bit of taste and smell is very different. The pills I normally take are floral and remind me of an herbal tea, but these are more earthy. The taste/aroma is not powerful by any means and I did not find it to be offsetting or an issue.As for the effectiveness of this supplement. I didn’t find it to be any better than the lower strength supplement that I normally take from Pure Mountain Botanicals. The main reason I started taking holy basil was that it was one of the few things that actually helps me sleep better. While the Zazzee was able to do this for me as well, I am not sure the additional strength of it made much of a difference if any at all. I think the value of this supplement is good, but I couldn’t really tell the difference between the 450 mg I’m used to and the 6000 mg that these provide. Either way, they seemed to have the desired effect, they are made in the USA with many attractive certifications, and the price is of good value. I think I still prefer the Pure Mountain Botanicals over these, but they are more expensive and of reduced strength (although these are a concentrate and I don’t think the Pure Mountain Botanicals are). This product does not smell, taste or have any healing effects whatsoever. When I opened the bottle, I did not smell basil, I could not taste it upon opening the capsule and it had no effect in calming or soothing me in any fashion. I have used this brand before so am surprised that this does not work.Any other basil I have used has a strong basil aroma and this has none. Something is wrong here. Read more

Wow, there’s nothing not to like about this formula. Holy Basil is an adaptogen and you would be well advised to read up on all adaptogens as they are a natural way to improve your health, lower your stress and raise your immune system. I’ve come to know Holy Basil through teas, learned you can even cook with it! I associate it with an almost licorice scent/flavor, and this does not have that. And it’s not scentless, almost smells off? I’m sure the product is fine and I will continue to take these, but that scent threw me. It’s not the expiration, it was double safety sealed, so . . .? I started using holy basil years ago to help with stress. It also helps me sleep. So I take it ~ 1 hour before bed time. What I like about this brand is that it works well and the price point is excellent. Plus it is organic!! Usually holy basil is more expensive and a serving is often 2 capsules. Which means the supply does not last that long. Since 1 capsule is 1 serving in this product and it is extra strength I am really saving money as this is actually a 4 month supply.
