So disappointed in this item. This item is not dishwasher safe and it is not unbreakable. I purchased this item for my 5 years olds birthday. The very first time he used the set, I put it in the dishwasher and both the cup and bowl broke:( He really was excited to receive this item and is very sad that it broke. He was not rough with this item and I wash at least 2 loads of dishes everyday - everything else has made it through the dishwasher without breaking. The design of this set is nice and it worked perfectly for my daughter's school lunch (which requires sending a plate, bowl, and cup). However, two plates and a bowl have now come home broken in her backpack. I'm not sure what has happened to them, but since other children's plate/bowl/cup sets have come back all year intact, I have to assume these aren't the sturdiest. This set is made of a thinner melamine than other sets of this type. We have a few of these kinds of dish sets from when my older kids were little, but this set is of lower quality than the ones we already have. That being said, the bowl cracked in two spots when dropped on the tile by my 18 month old after we had it for 3 weeks. She was standing and dropped it, so it was not dropped from a tall height. My youngest granddaughter is a big Hello Kitty fan. Imagine her surprise when this arrived in the mail. Imagine her disappointment when she dropped the bowl on the floor and it broke. The cup and plate are still in good shape but she comments on the broken bowl when it's cereal or soup time even though she has others. THIS one was Hello Kitty. :-( Read more
