I've been using this product for a couple of years. I like it a lot because it provides hold and moisture to my dry hair but it's very light and not sticky or stiff at all. My wife says it darkens my graying hair a bit and adds some color and shine. I don't know about that but I'll accept it anyway! I normally buy the cheapest gel available at the supermarket or drugstore but for some reason I decided to splurge on this and find out what a higher and Joe product would be like . This costs about three or four times as much as the gel I usually buy . So I was a bit disappointed right away when I tried it because the scent was very subtle. I guess I was expecting something like the wonderful scent you get from the gel at the barbershop. It holds better than my usual gel, but not a lot, so my hair winds up being somewhat less sticky because I have less gel in it. I was looking for some hair gel with medium hold, and ran across this. It's a good value, smells nice, and keeps my hair where it needs to be. I have fine blonde hair, and this does the job. My hairstylist has been giving my a few drops of this after cuts for the last few years. I did not want to pay almost $20 for the bottle there. Glad to find on Amazon for half the price. No nonsense branding usually appeals to me, and this is in that category. The bottle is big, I use a small bit of gel every day and I reckon this will honestly keep me going for months. That said, the bottle itself does seem a bit cheap (squeezy plastic) and for me the lid part that opens up to control the flow as you squeeze some out, is too wide so too much comes out. On reflection, after having this for a couple of days, I've decided I prefer gel to come in a tube. Packaging aside, the product inside is fine. There's no particular odour, and it holds the hair well. However, it is the type of gel that will leave a bit of sticky feel on your hands after application so you will always want to wash them after putting some on - it probably hygienic to do so anyway, but I make the point because I've used other brands that haven't given me the urge to wash off the feel of it, so that's the negative blip. My son is a regular user of hair gel so I asked him what he thought of this product from the American men's grooming brand, Woody's. His first comment was that the Woody's surfer logo reminded him of the Angel of the North statue, and I can see what he means! My son has fairly short, but quite thick, hair and he found the light hold of this gel worked OK for him – perhaps not as well as his regular brand but at under a tenner for a 355ml (12 fl oz) bottle currently from Amazon it represents better value. This gel is a no-frills product that comes simply presented in a clear plastic bottle, it has a pleasant-enough smell and a little of it goes quite a long way so the bottle should last well.
