I have been using the wall peanut for years and absolutely love it. Against my better judgment I decided to try the wireless version, mostly because it got great reviews. Personally I don’t even use it it’s just collecting dust because it does not hold a strong charge for very long. I tried re-placing a battery after each use, it was a pain in the butt and it still wasn’t even close to powerful as the corded version. Now I need to replace this with a new cord version and I definitely won’t go with the cordless again. Read more
Update: I was surprised to see a number of buyers complaining that the clippers “won’t hold a charge”. No, they don’t. They run on batteries! So if you use cheap, low amp batteries, the clipper will use them up quickly. The two batteries supplied with the clipper and charger are SUPERB. Mine last for several hours. And because they give you a pair, you have a back up. Please don’t let a clueless review dissuade you, if you want to buy this excellent product. I live in a place where barber shops are inexpensive but filthy. Combs and brushes, towels and scissors are never cleaned, and razors are not sterilized. I love being able to cut my own hair. I pop on the number 4 comb and run the Wahl Peanut over my head every 3rd day or so. My hair is always a consistent happy length. The Peanut is very light-weight plastic -- but seems to be well constructed. Being able to pop in any AA battery to operate is a real plus. Being cordless, it makes cutting my own hair a breeze. I was skeptical about this due to bad experiences of cordless trimmers not being able to deliver the performance to cut. After seeing the reviews, I purchased this and I must admit that I am impressed and it's a keeper. For those who are still on the fence about buying this, you may want to consider this. If you plan on using this occasionally to trim your beard and facial hair, and want to cut the cord, this is for you but you'll have to ditch the rechargeable batteries that come with - I'll explain why. If you are running a barber shop, this could also work, but again, you'll probably have to ditch the rechargeable batteries too - I'll explain why.Take the cordless trimmer and turn it on with the supplied rechargeable battery and pay attention to the speed/frequency of the rotation. Now, use a heavy duty AA alkaline battery, turn it on and observe the speed/frequency of rotation? Better yet, how the blades cut. Try cutting your hair in both instances and observe the difference.Without getting too bogged down with the principles of operation, the motor speed is directly proportional to the voltage so the alkaline battery (1.5V) performance exceeds the rechargeable (1.2V). It appears that the alkaline battery causes the motor to spin quicker leading to a better/sharper cut. Does 0.3V really matter? Or even 0.1V?Since I'd be replacing my corded peanut for this, I'm definitely using a heavy duty AA battery so I expect to replace it not that often cutting at 3 times per week.If you are going to be using this many times daily, I'd recommend the EBL batteries. I've seen voltages sitting at 1.3V and with a 2800mAh capacity, that should take you a long way. Someone also recommended using the Eneloop batteries. The rechargeable batteries that come with are useless and they could have charged me less without it. I'm also wondering why they didn't design the trimmer to us two AA batteries. Given the efficiency I guess, it works well so 5 stars especially when it is cordless. Another great product from Wahl. I use this clipper a lot on my dogs. It's the perfect size for trimming the pads of small dogs and I often also use it on the body of my Yorkie, kept in a pet cut. Because he is so tiny, it actually works better on a lot of areas of his body. It's awesome that it's cordless for being portable and ease of use, but its HORRIBLE at keeping a charge. Even when using new batteries, it dies out extreamly quickly. I remove the batteries after each use, and still have a lot of problems with it keeping a charge. Other than that one problem, I love the peanut itself and am likely going to get a corded one. If it's between one or the other, probably worth saving yourself the frustration of batteries that won't last more than a few minutes and just go with the corded version. Read more
Way better than the corded version. The cord is a big mess. Cordless is well worth it in my opinion. Yes, there are limitations. It does not work well on super long hair. I use it to buzz my hair and trim my beard. Make sure you use fresh batteries, lube the blades every time, cut on clean hair, and cut on dry hair. You should be fine if you use all of these methods. Also, the batteries need to be "seasoned." The manual says they need to be used and recharged several times before they are at their best. Read more
Received the package very fast, only to find that it was used, with fine coarse hair in package, and a small one attached to the teeth, where there was oil applied to it.For the price i received it for,i knew it was too good to be true.Heard other comments on other shavers similar to this, saying they had received a used clipper/trimmer as well, but i was hoping this wasn,t the case for me,but low and behold it was.
