I bought the Wahl Senior and the clipper guards set of 8, it's a powerful clipper but the guards suck! 2 guards came with the clippers and they're good, they have more teeth and closer together. The ones that are in the set of 8 the guide teeth are to far apart which makes it less strong and they spread apart constantly! With that, the guides on the ends separate and cause them to unclip. I've been cutting my own hair for 20 years using store bought Con-Air, cheep weak clippers but never had any problem with the guards, thicker stronger better. I was happy to see the size 3/16 Wahl guard, during the first use shaving the back of my head the guard separated to far and fell off while in use, leaving a large low spot. Product is great, does exactly what I need it to do. The guards fit my Wahl Balding Clippers nice and snug. They don't feel like they will come off in the middle of a cut.Plastic is flexible, feels durable. My last guard set was hard brittle plastic, the set broke over time.I like the guard holder.My only complaint is that the guard lengths are a bit shorter than stated on the larger sizes. It isn't a deal killer, but if it says it's an inch should be an inch, not 7/8 of an inch. Is the only reason I took a star off. Read more

Unlike the real Wahl #1 comb, this comb digs into the skin, which can cause scratches. The original Wahl comb is perfectly smooth where it touches the skin and the leading edge is blunt, without having a sharp leading edge that digs into the skin. Now, it does fit the trimmer perfectly, and it is very sturdy. I tried to use a file to remove the sharp edge without any success. Read more

If you don't have the Wahl Professional Sterling Mag Trimmer #8779, ignore thislabel states "Fits all Wahl Full Size Blades, ex for Competition Series. I asked again in a community question. Answers were- yes it fits. It doesn't fit- The guide is way too big to stay on the clippersI first bough the "knockoff" brand- much cheaper., and thought the non-Wahl item was the problem. So then I bought these (almost 4 times the price)- same (wrong) fit.fwiw- I couldn't tell the difference between the knockoffs and the official Wahl guidesMaybe the Sterling is not considered a "full size" clipper. As an ex-hair stylist who still cuts my families hair these are a must! Over the years I have lost over half of the guards that came with my original clippers, so when I decided to replace them I chose these. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the color coded system, and the case to store them in is an awesome bonus (I hate things being cluttered or having to dig-so the storage case eliminates both of those for me). These fit my clippers perfectly and the quality is great. I wish I would have spent the money years ago to get these (especially when I was still doing hair full time in the salon). I like to have everything well organized, and this cutting guide kit is perfect. The guides make it clear and easy to distinguish between the sizes which is crucial to avoid cutting to the wrong length. The case forces you to keep the guides in the correct order, and is much better that a loose drawer full of guides. I am certainly not a professional, but this kit makes me a better barber. Bought these to use with my old Wahl clippers due to all the barbers being shut due to the lockdown.My Clippers originally came with numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 guards, and those that were used most had become a little loose and wobbly.This set adds 5, 6, 7 and 8 and a useful carrying box for the guards, which I chose as colour coded rather than all black. More choice now, as I would want to keep my hair a little longer than a number 4 these days.As these fit tightly onto the clippers, I'm much happier that they won't fall off and give me a 'mohican in reverse' bald stripe along the middle of my head, which I'm sure would have happened if I hadn't replaced them! Bought to go on my Wahl super taper clippers and they fit really well. Easy to fit and remove, stable in place in operation and sturdy. Has all the sizes I was after and the colour coding helps distinguish them.I had a cheap clipper and guard set before and this is hands down a better option.
