I called around to get a quote on how much a haircut would cost for my labradoodle pup. It ranged from $70 - $85. Yikes!!! I have never cut a dog's hair before. I have only used it once, and already got my money's worth. It's quiet, cuts hair well. It comes with a carrying case, oil, brush to keep them sharp. (Bonus) The razor attachments really helped me even up her coat. I used the scissors to cut hair on her paws. The only downfall on this device is the weight. My hands are small, and wished it could be lighter. It's pretty powerful, so that is the trade off. I definitely recommend this product. Check out my puppy's before and after photo. Read more
I've had a pair of Wahl clippers for over 20 years that have worked perfectly every time. My experience is what drove me to purchase this pair in preparation for cutting our Golden Doodle for the first time. I oiled the blades out of the box and everything seemed fine. The pet clippers didn't seem any more quiet than my 20 year old pair. I started with the longest guard and my pooch's rear legs and hind area. Things went pretty well. I moved on to her body and as I was finishing that section I started to run into issues with the clippers not cutting and easily getting bound. I unscrewed the blade and there was hair caught inside. I removed that and screwed it back together. It was moderately better but in just a couple of passes it wouldn't cut again. I checked it again and it again had hair caught in it but not as much. I continued to carefully push the clippers through her fur but I think it wasn't cutting well and would leave long tufts or just get caught. They were also making a weird noise and I couldn't push the clippers through the fur, if I persisted, the clippers would bind and stop moving. I cut the first 60% of my dog in 15 minutes. I cut another 25% over about 45 minutes and called it quits. Her front legs and chest I never finished and didn't want to torment her any longer. These are going back to Amazon and I'm going to order something that is more commercially oriented. If you have a small breed dog, maybe these would work but for me they are junk. Read more
Please read before buying. Like many other customers, I received a clearly USED and UNCLEAN pair of clippers. I thought that by ordering from Amazon direct, I would be assured a new product, but clearly I was wrong. Like others, the decal on the front of the clippers was rubbed off in spots, and there were scratches all over the silver finish. I thought this may have happened in transit, with the loose accessories rattling around in the box, but upon inspecting the blades, they were totally dirty!The blades on a new pair of clippers should not be pre-oiled. So imagine my surprise when, after running my thumb over the bare blades, I felt a gritty, oil-y residue. The grittiness is due to the dander left by the last dog these clippers were used on. Which means that not only were these clippers pre-owned, but they were not even sterilized before being repackaged with fresh guards and a new pair of scissors. Totally unsanitary, unsafe and I couldn't be more disappointed. Luckily, Amazon took care of things and I purchased the Wahl Professional Animal Deluxe U-Clip Pet Clipper Trimmer Grooming Kit for Dogs Cats and Pets Hair Fur #9484-300 instead. The UCLIP came brand new and worked great. Read more
Opened my clippers today and immediately could see that they were a refurbished set, if that. Logo scratched, hair on blades and a big scuff on the side. the clippers we not even bagged like the guards, just thrown in the box. blade looks old also. will be returning these and buying a different brand. For a "cheap" set of clippers these are great. I originally got them to trim Border Collies' leg, stomach, tail, and bushy butt hair to keep them from dragging so much sand and dirt in the house. They do great for that purpose. They do heat up after a while but I bought a can of the cooling lube spray for the blade, and also have two of these clippers so can set one aside for the motor to cool. They seem rather loud but I don't know how the noise compares to other clippers. Replacement blades are available here on Amazon. I'd recommend getting at least one extra blade so you can send a dull one for resharpening. I'm about to send mine to premier1supplies.com, they charge $7 for sharpening small blade sets.Recently I have abused the heck out of these clippers by clipping mini goats. Two bucks (one pictured) had matted woolly undercoats that wouldn't completely comb out and really bogged the clippers down, but eventually got the job done. I used the 1/2" comb because I didn't want to shave them naked. Yesterday I clipped six does with the 1/8" comb.Cleaning/blade replacement is easy and cleaning should be done after every use. Just remove two short Phillips screws and brush out all the hair bits with an old toothbrush, wipe off the blade set, and reassemble as per included instructions. Read more
I am strongly recommending that anyone considering purchasing this item, STOP read this first!I bought this pet grooming item, thinking that "Amazon" always sells good and reputable merchandise; WRONG!!!What I received is a very misleading Wahl Clipper Pet-Pro Dog Grooming Kit, it states that it's Quiet (Heavy Duty) Electric Dog Clippers For Thick, Heavy Coats, for All Breeds of Dogs and Cats. That statement does not come close to the truth; in fact it does NOT perform as advertised at all, in anyway shape or form, total rip-off. I'm shocked that "AMAZON" would allow such garbage to be sold on their site; I know I'm not the first and or last person to post a sad but truthful statement regarding the absolute dishonest and false advertisement of the (Wahl Clipper Pet-Pro Dog Grooming Kit) that's why I can't understand why they continue to sell this item. Very disappointed with this item. Firstly, it had a US plug on it and wasn't compatible with 240v UK sockets, so we had to buy an additional transformer. Then once we'd bought that we plugged the item in and it was so noisy our dog fled. Perhaps it was broken, I don't know but it was extremely loud. Un-usably loud. My husband has Wahl clippers for his hair and they are of a much higher quality and are very quiet. These looked as if they could be fake. Read more
Waited some 3 weeks for it to arrive. On inspection I found that it was fitted with a FLAT 2 PIN PLUG. not to worry I thought I have an adaptor. Good job I checked the rating plate its 12.5V This is not for he UK market so why is that not stated? and why is Amazon selling it as such. I'm now waiting or a refund and find I'm £14.50 out of pocket as I had to pay for the postage. Not Happy Read more
