I purchased this item twice. The first time in April 2018. I used it once a week and it lasted two months. The motor became louder and louder, and it seemed to overheat while using it so I oiled the blades and continued using it. All of sudden it started smoking and the motor froze up. I purchased it again in July 2018 thinking maybe I just got a lemon the first time. The second one broke after using it twice. The bottom cutting blade flew out while using it. Pretty dangerous actually. I tried repeatedly to fix the item myself, but the blade kept flying off.I spent the extra money thinking this pair of clippers would likely cut better and last longer. Had to update...beside myself right now! I contacted wahl and they sent me a new set. Took it out, oiled it, this one was actually cutting so I was happy. Cut my 3 boys hair...first day using it and the blade comes out! It is useless. Honestly don't even know what to do at this point. Attaching a video. The wahl rep did send me a video on aligning the blade. Really?? Spend 50$ and have to fix it straight out of the box?Really disappointed. Doesn't cut hair at all!I ordered this despite some negative reviews and hoped for the best. The blade on the first one I ordered was terrible. It seemed used and old when I opened it. It also seemed crooked and jagged. I read all instructions and was very careful to oil before use the first time and clean and oil after using. I loved the combs so I really hoped this was a fluke. I returned and reordered. The second set was the same! I liked the guide combs enough to just keep them and cut my losses. I bought a 40$ wahl clipper set from the store and used with the combs. Same problem! Idk if wahl has changed how they make the blades or what the problem is, but I have 3 boys and have been cutting their hair for over 10 years. These are the worst I've owned and the cheaper wahls I've bought in the past were better. Extremely dissappointed as I cut their hair to save money, and this has cost me over 100$! I’m a barber and I totally recommend the Wahl Pro kit if you buzz your hair or cut your kid/husband’s hair. I bought this set a few days ago strictly for the clipper guards. They’re the new “Elite” line of guards that have a metal clip on them and sturdier teeth. They’re miles better than the guards you’ll get in any other set. They also have a smoother ground tip on the teeth, so less poking. The set of guards alone would run you $35.The clipper itself is also great for the price. It’s definitely a budget model, but it uses the same magnetic motor that the professional line uses, although it’s likely the v5000 model instead of the v7000 or v9000 model in the Super Taper or Seniors. It has a precision cut blade, which is more forgiving than the surgical/fade blade most barber will use. It also has a considerably better power cable than any other clipper you’ll get in the price range. As far as I could tell, the cable is the same gauge as on my Wahl Seniors. As long as you brush out the blade and oil it after every use before letting it sit, it should honestly last a lifetime for home use. Seniors can last decades of use at 20 cuts a day, and these clippers aren’t that drastic of a step down in build quality.As far as the extras are concerned, the comb is fine, and the cape will be very useful if you usually find yourself just wrapping someone in a towel. It comes with a small bottle of oil which should last a home user awhile. All it takes is a couple of drops of oil WHILE THE CLIPPER IS ON to let it work through the cutting blade. All together, it is a fantastic home hair cutting kit, and you won't find a better clipper kit at this price. Read more

After nearly a decade of replacing cheaper clipper sets every 2-3 years I finally decided to purchase a more expensive set. I'm glad I did! Even if they only last as long as cheaper ones, there's a handful of things I'm happy to pay the higher price for.If it matters, I cut my own hair, and have for as long as I can remember, so my feedback is from that context. I don't cut anyone else's hair, and I tend to cut more frequently (every 5-6 days) so that I only need minor touch-ups vs. having to commit to an entire cut.Here's what I like about these vs. cheaper sets I've used in the past:1. Better/stronger motor. Part of why I replaced cheaper sets so often is b/c they'd eventually start pulling my hair, regardless of proper blade oiling and sharpening. I immediately felt a difference in how much smoother these cut, especially during faster movements.2. Stronger, smoother closed & open guard adjustment - feels far more assured than what I'm used to on cheaper sets. No matter how small or large the adjustment, the gaurd stays in place once adjusted.3. Guard combs that stay in place, finally! On cheaper Wahl clippers I always had to worry about guard combs coming off b/c that happened every so often. The guard combs in this set snap on much firmer and have stayed in place extremely well.4. 1/2 and 1 & 1/2 guards are included. These allow more flexibility and safety when blending fades. In my case, I'm spending much less time going back and forth between the 0, 1, and 2 gaurds - the half guards hit the mid points much better and faster.5. Heavier feel. I value this b/c I have large hands. The heavier feel of these provides better guidance, especially during faster movements.I've only used these a handful of times so far but remain very impressed. After watching so many youtube videos on how to cut a toddler's hair, I finally decided to buy this clipper and I love it! Very easy to use and such a good quality for the price I paid. I was scared to use it the first time of course. I was worried that I might hurt my son, but it was very safe and I got used to it right away. My son's hair turned out great. As it was American product I had to buy an additional voltage converter. It now vibrates so much it is painful when using it. I thought as I used Uk Amazon web site it would be right voltage etc. I was very disappointed and usually very pleased with products I receive. Read more

It is really loud and the vibrations are very high.After 30-40 seconds my hand start hurting from the vibrations. I just turned it on and after 30 seconds turned it off and returned it. Did not get a chance to actually cut hair with it so I would not be able to say if it cuts properly or other usage details. Read more
