There are a lot of REALLY expensive and high tech options out there for monitors. It was a bit overwhelming for me and my husband when we were expecting. I took forever doing side-by-side comparisons of features and prices, cross referencing with reviews and buyers' guides... and then said, "Screw it! This one has the features I really want, has positive reviews, and is the best price."Two years later, I have no regrets about this purchase. Other new parents looked down their nose at how cheap it was and didn't have ____ fancy feature, but ours actually worked better than their more expensive versions! It is not connected to wi-fi or a cell phone, which was big for me because of recent reports of cameras being hacked by outsiders. It took us a while to realize that it has an antenna on the monitor to increase reception. This meant we could have drinks on the neighbor's patio or work in the yard while the baby slept and keep an good eye on him. (Doors were locked and guard dog on duty, of course.)It has a good picture in both light and dark. It comes with mounting equipment that seemed impressive, but we didn't end up using it. I just didn't feel the need for such a close-up picture all the time. We set it on top of his dresser nearby and pointed the camera (the lens can be adjusted) at him. The monitor has a zoom feature that can provide a close-up as it sits there on the dresser.This monitor picks up sound VERY well. We actually had to get used to the fact that it picks up every new sound that you would hear standing in the room. So it's quiet when baby is sleeping, despite his lullaby music being on. But when the front door is closed or a train goes by a mile away, you hear it on the monitor even though it's not even enough to wake the baby. As he has gotten older, this has been a blessing as we can hear him stirring before he gets bored and causes trouble. The volume on the monitor is adjustable. There is also a button on the handheld monitor that allows you to talk to the baby from wherever you are ("Mommy's coming!" walkie-talkie style).We have never had a problem with only having one handheld monitor. My husband and I have simply always made sure to have clear communication on who is "in charge" of it. We hand it off to each other as needed. I've been on the hunt for a baby monitor for my goats. I know... Crazy.... I have a preggo Mama goat and I need to hear when she goes into labor. Mainly at night. My bedroom is located at the far opposite end of our house, and that's the farthest away from the goat Barn. I simply cannot hear a single thing that happens in the barnyard at night. I took a very rough distance measurement, and it looks like we're right about 150 feet away from the back of the barn. There are roughly about 7 stucco/drywall walls between the baby monitor camera and the parent unit. And this is the only unit that has made it this far. It's spotty, but not enough that it bothers me. It connects often enough that I'll be able to hear my goat. Which is all that I need. I tried the older model of the baby sense monitor, as well as the newer model and both were terrible. I also tried the Uber fancy infant optics monitor, and that was even worse than the baby sense. I have such a love hate relationship with this monitor... I’ve done endless research to find the right monitor for us. We wanted a video monitor for two kids rooms that had vox. You would think that’s an easy find but it’s not. This monitor has all the features we want! However... we’ve gone through three of them in a couple years! The first one was gifted to us so when it stopped charging, I just assumed it was old. We replaced it with another used once since we already had the camera and a few months later, that one also stopped charging. I assumed that both of these were due to them being older. I decided to buy a new one and after 3 months of use, the brand new one stopped charging again! Thankfully it was under warranty and when I sent it in, they replaced it. So I have had this camera going on 4 months and this is a not terrible camera but there are some issues. The zoom feature is awesome! However, it randomly moves the picture from where you adjusted it. Let me explain. So I leave the camera zoomed in all night for when I randomly wake up and want to take a look at my boy... you know, make sure no blankets are in his face, etc. However, the zoomed and centered picture randomly moves from where I had it so that when I look at it, I might see the top of my baby's head and have to readjust the picture. Trying to adjust the parent unit half asleep, in the dark, without my glasses is not an easy task. The first time it happened, I freaked out because it appeared my baby wasn't in his crib but it was actually just that the picture had moved from where I had it.The picture on this is good at night, only when zoomed. When not zoomed at night, the picture is sometimes over exposed so it's hard to distinguish between the crib and my son.The lullabies on this monitor are pretty comforting and my son seems to like them. I just don't like that you can't turn them on from the parent unit.As for the range, this is my biggest complaint. The range was great for the first couple weeks. Then, the parent unit started going in and out & beeping like crazy while we were in our den (which is the farthest room from the baby). I figured it was just because of the distance. But now, it hardly will pick up in that room and the parent unit has started consistently losing the link between the stationary camera and the parent unit from our bedroom, which I would say is less than 500 feet away from each other. Me atrajo a este producto las buenas reseñas que tenía de otros usuarios. Sin embargo, estoy decepcionada. La imagen es buena. La batería del monitor está bien... no dura muchísimo, pero lo suficiente. Lo que me decepciona enormemente es el alcance de la señal - dice creo que 300 metros. Esto es un engaño. En el departamento se me cae la señal, y no vivo en una mansión. Quise darle una oportunidad a este monitor porque pensé que era bueno por todas las opiniones positivas, y desafortunadamente se me pasó el tiempo que tenía para devolverlo. No lo compraría de nuevo.
