About five months ago, I was offered a free 90 capsule bottle of Vorst Curcumin for review via the Amazon Vine Program, and I accepted.I've been regularly taking curcumin for *at least* ten years, since I first read about it's potential as an anti-inflammatory. I often change brands, as I'm looking for the best technology and value. Since October, 2017, I've been purchasing  Doctor's Best Curcumin Phytosome with Meriva, 500 mg . It seems to be a good product at a decent price compared to other brands. The Meriva formula is supposed to absorb better than the previous formula using BioPerine. Here I am again, reviewing yet another curcumin supplement. This time, Vorst Curcumin. But as in the past, I'm not really certain that it's actually doing anything (positive) for my five decades old body.As I've said with other Curcumin supplements I've reviewed in the past year, I cannot say that 1) I ever really noticed that Curcumin has done anything for me in the ten+ years I've been taking it, or that 2), this Vorst Curcumin is any better or worse than the  Doctor's Best Curcumin Phytosome with Meriva  or the  Viva Naturals Curcumin C3 with BioPerine  or the  Longvida Optimized Curcumin  I was taking just before this brand. I guess you can say that I take it on faith that all of this Curcumin I've been taking all these years is doing something useful. As far as it's claims to improve joint health, I cannot say that my occasionally painful left knee, or any other part of me, feels any differently than it did before I started taking the Vorst Curcumin just about five months ago. I will say that it is notably more expensive per capsule over the Doctor's Best and it does not include anything to help with absorption such as BioPerine or Mervia. So when this bottle is finished, I will switch back to the  Doctor's Best Curcumin Phytosome with Meriva, 500 mg  brand. It goes without saying that with all of these supplements, YMMV. Read more

I have taken curcumin/turmeric for years to help with arthritis inflammation and have been pleased with the results. It’s not as effective as my prescription meds but it has (for me) zero side effects. It’s allowed me to substantially reduce prescription meds that have some significant side effects while managing pain levels.This is not one of the better formulations. It has 600mg of turmeric extract, but does not specifically state the level of 95% curcuminoids, which is the substance that has the best effect on inflammation. It says it has “turmeric extract with 95% curcuminoids” on the front of the bottle. Is it the full 600mg listed as curcuma longa root extract on the ingredient list on the back of the bottle? Less? (Curcuma longa is the scientific name for turmeric.)Additionally, it lacks black pepper extract, with is essential to take with curcumin/turmeric since it greatly increases bioavailability. Without black pepper, much of the curcumin/turmeric gets passed though and is not absorbed/used by the body.I used this for a couple of days and found it was far less effective than other brands that have specific, defined amount of 95% curcuminoids plus black pepper. I went back to my usual brands and tossed this.I’ll give it two stars since this may be helpful for other issues – turmeric has several benefits. But for inflammation relief, it’s not nearly as effective as better formulated supplements. Read more

"Vorst Curcumin Tumeric Capsules" are made in Canada and, while I prefer supplements that are made in the USA, I am willing to waive that requirement for Canadian ones. The doctor told my aching spouse that he should be taking curcumin tumeric to relieve joint pain. The capsules are easy to swallow. Because it takes 4 - 8 weeks to determine this supplement's effectiveness, I will update and possibly raise the rating at a later date. Read more

I have been taking this for over a month now. During this time my inflammation and muscle pain had gone down to a nice degree. There is nothing artificial in the ingredients. And I did not experience any adverse effects. This bottle contains 90 capsules at one per day for a 90-day supply which is a good value for the price. I use plenty of turmeric in my cooking. But it's good to have these as a natural option to pain killers and also as an anti- inflammatory and anti carcinogen. The pills are a bit on the larger side but they are smooth and easy to swallow. No aftertaste. A staple in Indian homes, a great Ayurvedic therapy and goes well with any other supplements you might be taking. Read more
