My hair in a nutshell is baby fine, thin, stick straight and won't hold a curl for anything. It tends to get oily and fall flat very quickly. If I didn't use my favorite hair product (It's a 10 Miracle Leave In Spray) I would have static non-stop. I have to wash and dry my hair every day, and I blow dry it upside down to get the most volume possible, but I just hate how limp and lifeless it is even right after a vigorous blow dry! I have often worn extensions only for body (both woven in and clip in), but they're a pain and sometimes show which can be embarrassing. Enter this beauty. I bought this on an absolute whim. I saw it and thought; "If anyone would benefit from that product it would be me" so I went for it. I was super skeptical though. I was also really scared by the pictures on the box and the website. Some of those ladies on the box look like my 85lb labradoodle with WAY over poofed hair. I had no intention of looking like a labradoodle, so I started small. I only set the temp to 300 (my hair being so fine is prone to damage) and did 4 chunks of hair total with 2-3 crimps on each chunk starting at the base of my hair and working down. I only clamped for 1 second max each time. THIS IS THE RESULT! It's SO much better and it lasts all day long!!!! Best of all no one can tell! I can run my fingers through my hair, pull it up into a ponytail, walk in wind (all things that are a nightmare with extensions) and it stays looking naturally fuller for hours and hours. This is completely unheard of for me and I am officially in love with this thing. I know I already said 'best of all', but ALSO best of all is how fast, easy and idiot proof this thing is to use!! It heats up instantly and truly it's nearly impossible to screw up if you read the directions. Basically you part your hair as you normally would, then I use my rat tail comb to pull up the top layer of my hair and clip it over to the other side (the way I would if I were going to put in clip in extensions). Then you separate out a chunk of hair, clamp, clamp, clamp, then pull it over and clip it down to do the next section. As I mentioned I only did this in two sections and only on the sides of my head. It took all of 1 minute, and I have all day body that I've never had in my life, with no additional hair spray, mouse or product!!Truly, if you have hair like mine do yourself a favor and buy this thing. I don't often write reviews, but since hair is such a struggle for me, I feel compelled. I heard about this product from my hairdresser. Another of her clients recommended it. So, as soon as I could get to wifi, I started watching You Tube reviews. So excited! Yes, the price is quite steep, but if you struggle with silky fine hair, you are almost willing to trade an arm for better hair. I have just below chin length inverted hair that is fine and thin. When I first got the product, I styled my hair as normal (I use dry shampoo, texturizer, heat protectant, volumizing products, volumizing blow dryer, curling iron, etc.) Then, I pinned my hair on the top of my head and started working in sections dropping down as I went. I started at a temp of 300 degrees to try to minimize heat damage. I did not "Voloom" the top layer so the crimping would not show. Yes, there was a bump in volume! I could still see the crimped hair peaking through...It annoyed me, but the volume was worth it. I gave a final spray happy with the results. Money worth spending. Until, I went out the door. I haven't mentioned that I live in the Gulf South and the air is often so humid and liquidy. Five minutes outside and the flat was back. I could feel a little of the texture was there, but not a lot of bump. I went right back and Voloomed a couple of areas, but by the end of the day, there was no evidence of my new product. I have repeated this several times raising the temperature each time. This thing is miraculous if you don't deal with tropical humidity often. However, I may keep it in my arsenal for the 15 days of the year when the humidity is not so bad. It's an awful lot to spend for just a few days, though. I use volume adding irons to my hair pretty much every time i wash and style my hair. I naturally have medium/thin pin straight hair.I have purchased a much cheaper micro crimper from hot tools and used it for a few months. Recently, I bought voloom and have used it once. The results are attached. Most people would probably ask, which I preferred? They both have their pros and cons.-Mico crimpers can get closer to your scalp, but leave a really severe mark on your hair. Voloom cannot get as close to your scalp and leaves a more subtle mark.-Voloom is much faster to use. Micro crimpers take me 20 minutes to crimp my whole head (except for the visible areas near my part of course). Voloom takes 10 minutes.The differences are really nuanced. So if you can't afford voloom you would probably be satisfied enough with a cheaper micro crimper. I plan on keeping both irons anyway because I really liked the results and think it works really well on long hair with larger barrell curled styles. Feel free to ask any questions. Read more

This works!!!!! First, about my hair: straight, thin, even thinner on top (post-menopausal), medium shoulder-length and color-treated.I received my Rootie yesterday and immediately tried it. I was impressed. I slept last night and when I got up this morning I still had lift to my hair. I washed and redid my hair just now and I think I did a better job of placement with the Rootie within my hair. No hair products, no hairspray and I have volume that my thin hair has never had before. I was nervous about this having read all the negative reviews, but the 5 star reviews convinced me to take the risk. My order came faster than predicted and the tool heats up fast and works like a DREAM! I have very fine blonde hair (but lots of it, not thin hair, just fine strands) that droop flat immediately after normal styling even with volumizing products and round brush blow drying. Taking 5-6 minutes extra to use Rootie as directed gave me 100% more volume (literally doubled the look of how much hair I have) that has lasted for 3 days (2 nights of sleeping on a silk pillowcase). I also watched a great Rootie how-to video on Youtube done by a terrific gal, Harmony, at harmonize_beauty. She shows you exactly how to get the best results, and I got 2 other Aveda products she demonstrates with - AirControl hair spray and Pure Abundance volumizing potion. These make all the difference in combo with Rootie. I love this styling tool and will never be without it. It’s pricey but gives you salon blow-out volume look for pennies, when you amortize the purchase price over 1-2 years. And the results are better than a salon blow out and last far longer. Read more

The hair gods have finally answered my prayers!! I have very fine, thinning hair with a few areas that are balding. Previously, I coud never get my hair to have any kind of lasting volume. I had to use a ton of product and take a lot of time to get half of the results I get with Voloom. It's ridiculously easy and fast to use. It lasts all day, I can run my fingers through my hair without ruining it, and it helps me to not wash my hair everyday. Do yourself a favor and buy one!! Read more
