Ridiculously awkward and ineffective. The plastic (“foam”) applicator end is too hard to conform to the contours of your back so it misses half your back, and meanwhile the lotion dribbles right off the off onto floor before you can get it around to your back because the applicator is too non absorbant and plastic feeling.A different kind of applicator would make all the difference—something soft enough to conform to a body’s contours and semi absorbant so at least the lotion stays on it till it gets to your back.Going to try to return this (—or toss it in the trash). I use this to keep my new back tattoo moisturized. Since I was concerned about the sterility of the foam stuff and rubbing it on what is basically an open wound, I've been sliding a latex glove over it and tying the fingers out of the way each time I use it (throwing it away when I'm done). Latex glove fits on there easily and keeps it sterile so I'm not growing bacteria by washing it constantly. It reaches the areas that I can't and gives me the freedom of not begging someone to help me multiple times a day. The latex glove trick could also be handy for people using it for medication for rashes or burns. Read more
I read a few reviews before purchasing this particular applicator. I did see a few people say that the lotion slides off the sponge before they can get it to their back to put it on. What I think has happened for these people is that they are putting too much lotion on the applicator at one time. I use a small amount, and then if I need more I put a little more on there. I've seen a HUGE improvement on how dry my back is since I started using this. I love it and it seems to be well made. The wooden handle seems strong, and I'm able to actually get the lotion rubbed in. So glad I made this purchase! Read more
As I've aged, I find that my back gets itchy—even after showering. And, since I live alone, there's no one but me to fix that. So I was pleased to find this one-hand applicator.Pros:(1) Non-absorbant pad doesn't waste lotion, cortisone cream, etc.(2) Easy to clean(3) Good quality wooden handle has a loop for easy hangingCon:(1) The handle could be a tad longer, to make it easier to reach backside areas. That would help those with limited mobility. All in all, a good purchase. I'm glad I bought it. Read more
I did not want another sponge-tip that would get grungy and have to be replaced often, and those roller-ball things are a joke. This is the perfect solution. The head is a large solid foam piece that does not absorb my expensive creams but easily and gently spreads them onto my back. You can slip it off the wooden handle and wash it easily. A perfect solution. Read more
As of May, 2018 - Apparently this product no longer ships with extra pads, which was a major reason I chose this applicator over the dozens of others out there. I received only a back applicator, not the extra pads mentioned in so many of the reviews of the product. Buyer beware. Read more
Three days before my vacation I thought, "you know, I'm not in my twenties anymore...I used to think nothing of walking up to anybody and asking for some help protecting my back in the sun, but I just don't feel like being touched by anybody who doesn't look too busy to help nowadays. There are selfie sticks, so surely there are sunscreen application wands by now..."Sure enough, here it is. Inexpensive, sturdy, does the job just fine... You can even use the plastic cover over the applicator pad to keep sunscreen from getting all over everything if you don't want to or can't make a big production out of thoroughly washing and drying it immediately. It's one of those really simple tools that makes life a little easier. Read more
My husband and my mother-in-law swear by these. Neither of them can reach their own back so they use these to apply lotion and sunscreen. The applicator pad is perfect. Other reviews seem to complain that they are not soft or absorbent enough. You don't want the applicator to absorb your lotion! You want it to hold it long enough to get it on your back. Think of the applicator as a spatula, not a sponge. Because it's not extremely porous it's easy to keep clean. We got these a month ago and, they use them daily, and they still look brand new. We got the replacement pads but probably won't need to use them for a long while! The handle is long enough to reach all around. Five stars for sure! Read more
This lotion applicator is Ace must better than I thought, it's so easy to use and has a long reach. In my opinion it's perfect for me in every way. I had dry itchy skin after showering, but this has been solved, also I have a painful shoulder, so couldn't reach up or down my back. Again this has been solved. Highly recommended product. 5 Star ⭐ Read more
Got this urgently as had a very itchy back that seemed to be some sort of fungal infection-like athletes foot. I have some limited ability with my arms to stretch and also a slightly curved spine-was itching rather more than was helpful! The product was in used within 10 minutes of being delivered-it was simple to assemble-light and the cream head is broad, but not absorbent (so the cream goes on my back and is not soaked up) it works well and after 3 days on the right cream I no longer have an itchy back. Its 'light' in design-which is what I needed as was stretching to get cream where I could not reach, but thats what I needed Read more
As another reviewer noted, the handle is well made, but it only has a small curve. The head and handle have to be 'assembled' and I didn't even try to do this because the round hole in the foam is so much smaller than the rectangle of the wood handle that I could see this splitting the foam head. The head is also totally firm - yes it has a bit of a mottled effect but nothing to keep any lotion on and it doesn't have any give in it to mould around areas of the body.Frankly an old sock fixed to a wood ruler would do just as well for the size of this thing. It is also really only an average length. Read more
This is the second lotion applicator I've purchased and this one is by far the best. It's easy to hold, the sponge doesn't soak up the lotion and it is perfectly designed to reach the places you need! Read more
This is great for reaching those hard to get to parts of your back! The foam head spreads lotions easily and the long handle feels comfortable to hold and reaches way down your back! The only drawback I found is that if you press too hard the foam head slips off the handle as it is only secured by pushfit. Read more
