First off, I'd like to say that I can count on both hands the number of reviews I've submitted, and I've ordered hundreds of products. I've suffered from clinical depression for the better part of thirty years, and SAD for about that same time, yet it wasn't officially diagnosed until a few years back. I had a therapist to recommend one of these products probably five years ago or so, but I kind of shrugged it off, figuring it would be useless. My current therapist recommended the same thing back in November, so I did some research and bought this particular unit. Some of the reviews about it making some people jittery or antsy had me somewhat concerned, so I started slowly and cautiously. After no initial side effects, I kept increasing my exposure, and now I may use it for a couple of hours at one sitting. I'm a student, so I have it on my desk and it works perfectly for me as I sit there studying, etc. I really didn't feel any effects after a week or so but remained persistent in using it; I certainly felt that I had nothing to lose. Honestly, it took over a month of daily usage for me to feel some positive results. But now, after almost two months, I can undoubtedly say that it is indeed a Godsend. I achieve very little energizing effects from caffeine, so jitteriness has not been a factor whatsoever. As stated, I usually utilize it a couple of hours in the morning (First thing!) and often an hour or so mid-evening. I had to experiment with different distances until I found my sweet spot. Love the light. From the pictures the stand looked like it could be a little flimsy, But it is actually pretty sturdy. Stand slides on back so it won't get lost (see pic) Great design for travel. I bring it home from work on the weekends and just slip it in my backpack. I did have a problem with the cord separating from the connector a couple weeks after buying but I wouldn't let that stop me from purchasing or recommending.. (see pic) I called verilux customer service and they were excellent and replaced the cord with no Hassel. All products can have an issue once in a while but how a company responds when you have an issue says it all. Theyre in the USA so no problem getting in touch. What an amazing difference in just 48 hours. I honestly thought light therapy wasn’t even real science. I want to be totally honest in this review in case there are others who felt like I felt.I’m a clinical researcher so times are a bit stressful right now amid the Covid-19 pandemic. I want sleeping well, and I was becoming lethargic sitting at my desk by noon (I work from home). I stumbled onto light therapy one night just perusing nerdy journal articles and posts like I usually do :)After watching a couple of YouTube videos, I decided on the Verilux. Two days later, I had it set up on my desk. First morning, I decided on the warm light, lowest setting, 20 minutes. I’m photosensitive so I really wasn’t sure if I’d have a headache at the end of 5 minutes! First session complete... I feel normal, no difference.I’ve done the same thing two days so far, mid level warm light now, 2 15-minute intervals, once in morning and again in the afternoon. I totally feel like my mental awareness has skyrocketed. I can concentrate, Im eating better, I seem more relaxed and calm. Coupled with some light meditation, I actually can see a difference in my whole demeanor.This is amazing for 75.00. Works well, I’ve had it for two weeks and I enjoy every morning. Yet to be seen if will fix my SAD.I’m feeling confident from the research that I’ve done that this light is hands-down the best one. When it comes to depression why play around, just buy the light. Read more

This is a really nicely made and quality lamp. I have used some cheaper lamps before and this SO much nicer. The build quality is very solid, the touch controls are very responsive, and light output is even and bright. I like the variable intensity and color settings. I haven't tried to run it from another power source, but since it uses a USB-C plug, I assume it can be powered from other sources aside from the included adapter... the cord is usefully long on it though, which is nice. The VT43 is a bigger unit than I thought (which is OK), but the dimensions listed are correct.Good: White Light (Temperature) can be changed between three settings. Warm, Normal, Cool.The timer function is nice, can turn it on, set a timer and when it goes off.. done.LED 'panel' has a frosted/matte finish, which disperses the light evenly.The front panel buttons are all like a capacitive touch button, no mechanical buttons (except the power button, which is similar to a cellphone or tablet power button).Like that the stand for the unit detaches from the base and can attach on the back for portability or loss prevention.Bad: Nothing so far. Have only been using for a short period of time, may update later if anything stands out.Worth Mentioning: The unit is powered by a USB-C wall adapter. The adapter is 20V at 700mA. This means you can't run it off your 5V phone charger, or portable powerbank - you will need to use the supplied power adapter.The VT43 would not run while powered by my 'auto voltage select' powerbank. it can supply 5V, 9V,15V,or 20V, but I think it relies on the device talk back and say what voltage it needs... but there are not many places I could see myself using this where I did not have a wall outlet. I have used verilux lamps to help me with winter blues and SAD for more than 6 winters! I had a previous model (big rectangular one) and thought to give this one a try as it has more customization in intensity and color. It is pricey but well worth it. Design is beautiful! I use it every day in fall and winter. Has 4 levels of intensity and colors of light. I have it in the kitchen counter and turn it on while prepping breakfast for my children. 15 min every morning and another 20 min at prepping dinner time, this work great for me, plus vitamin D every day and I am smiling again no matter the 21 grey days in a row we get in the rainy west coast!Would recommend it for sure!!! Very skeptical but quite pleased with this purchase. Easy to set up and use. Clean slim look, easy to store. It took 2-3 uses to get used to the brightness but good after that. The only thing I don't love is that the light must be on to set the timer, length of session and brightness which means you have to look right at the light to do this. Workaround: bump down to the lowest brightness when setting and look away when I increase it again. Read more

Bought this lamp in anticipation of working from home through the winter. As fall weather moves in, already I notice the shorter & overcast days make a big difference in the light level in my home and my energy. I've never used light therapy before and am impressed by the quality and features of this lamp. After reading reviews and looking at a number of lights, this measures up to the task for a reasonable cost. Unboxing it: was securely packaged with clear instructions - easy to start using. The light intensity, timer and colour are useful and appreciated adjustments. It can be set up on the included stand, or hung on a wall with the keyhole hook in the back. I've tried it for a few days and it definitely makes a difference lifting my mood with the light. I would (have) recommend this. Read more
