While looking for an LED light, I wanted to make sure it had good reviews first. As a cosmetologist and someone who likes to research products before I buy; I am writing this to educate people and help them decide if this is the light for them. First things first, a LED light is a LED light. The only other thing to check for is the wattage.I read some reviews complaining how their polish didn't last, but never mentioned the products they used or the application process. The problems you may encounter probably has to do with the polish you're using or the application. I'm going on 2 weeks now with my polish and it looks like I just did them.I used OPI Gel Base coat, polish, and top coat. The LED light will NOT work with regular polish. To prep the nails; file, buff, and clean the nail with acetone polish remover. If you apply lotion or use soap after you prep your nails, you NEED to use the acetone again. When applying the base coat (1x), polish (2x) , & top coat (1x) , make sure you are getting as close to the edges of your nail bed as well as the tip of your nail. After the top coat has cured, you MUST use alcohol that is at least 70% or the polish will be sticky, won't last, etc.I hope this helps at least one person while researching an LED light for their nails. I have had no issues with this light and would recommend. Read more
This is a tentatively positive review -- I come back and edit purchase reviews if they either don't last or are lasting exceptionally well, even after years of having the item. (EDIT: see bottom of post for happy update! :) )I bought this and received it yesterday, after a really annoying transaction with a local nail salon where they did sloppy work and skipped a step so my gels were peeling off within two days. Thought to myself "I have steady hands, how hard can this be?" Last night I used the Gelish pH coat, foundation coat, Gelish polish and top coat with the SunUV 24W LED lamp. Here's the breakdown. This cute little thing was super easy to use. Not being sure my first time and not wanting to mess it up, I cured each coat under the lamp for close to 2 minutes just to be sure...next time I'll try just 60 seconds and then maybe 30 to see. You can definitely feel the warmth of the tiny bulbs: it's not HOT, just warm so that you know it's working. I don't think there's anything "UV" about it, I think it's all LED, but I didn't stare at it anyway. I did my thumbs separately because despite the curve of the lamp, I wasn't sure if it would get all of my thumbnail along with the four fingers due to the way my thumb naturally points down (edit: after 10 months having it now, I can say just put your whole hand in, it does all fingers and thumb equally at the same time). One thing that was odd about the lamp was that it felt ever so slightly like my nails were burning -- but only after the top coat! Not a single other layer felt like that! And I had four opportunities to feel it...two sets of four fingers, two separate thumbs...felt a tiny bit weird for just a couple of seconds and then the sensation quit. I don't know what that means, I don't know that I really care, it wasn't super painful and didn't seem to hurt my skin at all. If all my nails fall off in a couple of months I'll be back here to complain. (edit: comment from Lawrence below was correct -- if you get the burning sensation take your hand out immediately for a second, blow on it, and stick it back in. It's just an initial reaction and won't continue after that)It's only been one day but my nails do look fabulous and seem to be rock solid like after a salon visit, so I'm extremely pleased. To anyone grousing about stickyness -- are you making sure you thoroughly wipe your finished nails down with alcohol? That's THE final step, you're not done till you do that and it WILL be tacky if you don't.EDIT: going on 5 days now, still no chips despite some pretty harsh housework.EDIT 5/15/17 (3 months in): I love my little lamp! I'm so impressed with it. No bulbs have burnt out so far, all the timed and automatic features are still working great, and the effectiveness hasn't diminished. Even if it kicked the bucket tomorrow, I'd re-buy for the great price. I've gotten months of fun out of it already with great looking, salon-hard nails. It's so worth it for a little "me" time, without having to get out of my house to the salon. I put a towel down on my bed and the lamp over it, and watch a movie while I do my nails. Probably one of the best things I've ever bought off Amazon so far. I do NOT need to do it for the auto-90-seconds, I just do about 30 seconds per coat.EDIT 12/4/17 (10 months!): I can't believe this thing is still working! No bulbs out, still curing beautifully. I take back what I said about just 30 seconds per coat though...I do believe that for maximum staying power, 90 seconds is best, 60 seconds minimum. I noticed that my nails were peeling after just four days when I only did 30 seconds per coat.EDIT 5/9/18 (over the year mark!): Definitely one of my best Amazon purchases. Still working its little heart out on a bi-weekly basis. I have such weak, oily nails I do sometimes get a little peeling around the 1-week mark, but it was like that for me at salons too. Easy enough to just soak the chipped nail off and paint a new one on. This is the ONLY way I can grow nails.EDIT 8/21/19 -- Y'all, I don't know how this thing's still going for the price I paid for it, but I'm astounded. Love my lamp, love my nails! Read more
NEVER GOING BACK TO THE NAIL SALON!! This is PERFECT!!! Depending on which brand of gel polish you use you will need alcohol to seal it, otherwise you’ll be left with the “sticky” stuff after curing. I am so excited to be saving AT LEAST $1,200 a year!! I will be ordering another one for my sisters. Read more
This lamp is a major upgrade to my old bulky ass UV lamp. It's small, light and did a fantastic job of curing my nails. I use DND polish. Cured the base coat + 3 thin coats of color for 30s each, then 60s on the top coat. Read more
I wasn’t sure if it was going to be strong enough to work w polygel but it totally is. I cured for 60 seconds each new nail.I did my nails 5 days ago and everything is still intact! So happy w this affordable purchase! AddedCrystals w hard gel and that worked too!My first time doing polygel so don’t judge me too hard 🙃😋 Read more
I decided to buy this light along with some gel polishes from Ulta instead of buying the entire $100 kit- best decision ever!!! After everything, I ended up spending about $50-60 to get everything mostly because this light was so cheap. It works great! I've only used it for three manis so far but I have yet to have any issues with it. It paid for itself after the first use and I'm beyond excited that I get to do salon quality manis that cost upwards of $55 whenever I want. Read more
This lamp cured my gel base coat, my gel base coat & reg polish mixture, then top coat in 30 seconds per coat, BUT, the 30 second setting only lasted 18 seconds, the 60 lasts just over 30, I had to count or set a phone alarm. Felt a deep burn in my fingers under the nail the first time, hot enough to pull my fingers out and slowly put back - no burn the 2nd time.*FYI MOST GEL POLISHES ARE/DRY STICKY UNTIL THE LAST COAT IS WIPED WITH 90% ALCOHOL . Do not touch until last coat is cured and wiped. Make sure you actually have "gel" polish, in a solid color bottle, and read the directions (or watch a quick YouTube vid) if you're new to gel polish. This lamp is designed to hit all angles of the nails - many lights don't dry/cure the sides of the pinky and thumb, but this lamp has lights aligned low enough to cure the whole pinky and thumb nail. And there's plenty of space for the whole hand without touching the sides! My favorite lamp so far. Bought to replace a good but short-timed Sensationail lamp. Good so far. Read more
So excited about this purchase! I used for the first time and I absolutely love. I was nervous about the machine being too heated or not enough and it's absolutely perfect.I thought it wasn't curing my nails due to the fact that I didn't feel the heat or the warmth and my nail was still sticky. I then learned that it's because i forgot to wipe with a lint free cotton ball or a paper town with alcohol.Easy to use, great quality. True to reviews. Super cute, sleek & chic! Read more
umm so it’s not an actual nail dryer, it’s just a gel uh/led lamp. Depending on the polish you use you will likely have to cure it for 1-2 mins. If it’s still a bit sticky on the surface, cure it for another 30secs! It did the curing pretty well when I cured my gel for 2 mins per coat (base, colour, top coat) Read more
This light is awesome! Bought it to be able to do my own manicures through covid and let me tell you - IT WORKS! Cures UV gel polish just like at the salon. It lasted through lockdown with TWO toddlers and a full time job, working from home! Read more
Product took 3 months to arrive and it came packaged very terribly. No box, just wrapped up in bubble wrap. The light seems decent - sometimes it doesn’t cure with the 30 seconds that is recommended for polish.Update. The lamp does not properly cure the polish after a total of 4 months of use. Read more
It doesn’t do the job. Was all set to return it, but missed the deadline. But Amazon did provided the opportunity to return👍 Read more
