Ever since my hip replacement 15 months ago, I have suffered from leg swelling issues. In addition, the replacement resulted in a loss of flexibility. Consequently, even with a Sock Aid, putting on real compression stockings is a major struggle - even with my wife helping. My podiatrist suggested I try the Tubigrip sleeves and they work really well for me. I can put the pieces of the sleeves on by myself. They are very comfortable and I use them in place of regular socks. They have a limited life but I can get about three washings from each pair/set before they lose their stretch and start to unravel. I lived an active life, retiring from military and became a working citizen. But as you age, body parts go beyond nature's warranty. My lymph semi lunar valves leak ... so you have to age gracefully. I wear these to keep the swelling down, and they work. Just when you wear shorts, your legs are bound and younger kids look and gasp. It does not bother me, because we all go through something in life. If I do not wear them, my lower leg and feet swell. Swollen or with bindings, shoes no longer fit. However, get a sewing awl, and stitch extra extensions over your shoes for height, and then shoes fit again ... part of doing things that meet your needs and doing them. The tubigrip works, but to keep the itching down, buy some cotton tubing, and let the elastic bite into the cotton tubing and not your skin ... cuts the itching way, way down. Good product.
