This is one of the first sunblocks (natural or other) that hasn't irritated my skin. Typically, most sunblocks cause me to break out in a rash after being in the sun for only a short amount of time. The rash takes days to go away, and quite frankly, it gets tiring managing it. After much research, I decided to give TruKid a whirl, and I'm thrilled with the results! I'm a 33-year-old female with sensitive skin and I will burn in 30 minutes without sunblock (otherwise, I tan pretty well using sunblock).The Sunny Days Daily SPF 30 held up well during a brisk 30-minute walk with my dog in the D.C. heat and humidity. No burns at all. I went for a run later in the day and didn't burn during that either. This product smells nice...sort of a light citrus. It rubs in relatively clear (it will get stuck in arm hairs, so just take a few extra minutes to rub in). I found that after application, a few minutes later the "white film" typically experienced with zinc products went away completely. I was looking for a new sunscreen for my face under makeup. Seems like most non-toxic, "clean" sunscreens are a little hard to rub in and leave me a little white, or they make my face break out, or they make my makeup smear. TruKid is amazing -- no white residue on my face, no pimples, and my makeup stays put. I reapply it a couple times throughout the day to my fair skin, and I never get a sunburn. I love it!! I was looking for a safe, effective sunscreen for my kids and based on my research this TruKid brand was the best match. It gets really high ratings on the non-profit Environmental Working Group sunscreen rating website. It's a zinc-based sunscreen so it's safer than the chemical-based varieties. (Our pediatrician said kids should use a barrier-type sunscreen - zinc or titanium dioxide). My skin is extremely sensitive and burns very quickly (literally in a matter of 5 minutes), so I have shopped around for good sunscreens that actually work and don't break down their components when your skin absorbs it. I have tried numerous different brands that contain a high percentage of non-nano particle zinc, which is known to "mirror" the sun's rays instead of being absorbed by the skin, and also, which contain no pthalates, articial fragrances, parabens, or palmitate. The only other sunscreen I've used that comes a little close to this one is Badger's.The zinc oxide will make your skin white, but that is due to the zinc acting as a "mirror", and not as an absorbent, against the sun. Some people might argue that they still get burns, but there are two rules after applying sunscreen: wait 10 minutes after applying so it can take effect, and also, re-apply after about 2 hrs. Components break down through sweat or other factors. There is not one sunscreen out there yet that will keep your skin safe continuously for 24 hours! :)The ingredients are also worth looking at. In most of the brand names like Neutrogena, you have ingredients like retinyl palmitate and other chemicals that don't react well to sunlight. This one doesn't contain any of those chemicals. The other sunscreen that comes close to this one is Badger's, but for some reason, this one is a little gentler on the skin. To make my ramble short this one is a keeper! Read more

This is a great, natural sunscreen and highly rated on the EWG website. I like this better than the Kiss My Face brand and the Babyganics. I found the Kiss My Face brand to be really hard to rub in and the Babyganics doesn't smell too good and is thinner. Trukid has a pleasant orange smell, is thick but rubs in, though you do have to give a few good rubs. I've had no issues with stinging eyes from the kids and it has proven itself in sun protection for my entire family. I myself have a skin condition in which I am losing the pigmentation in my skin so I am prone to sunburn since I lost the melanin in certain areas. I use this lotion and haven't burned once. I live in south Florida with strong sun and am usually doing a water activity for prolonged periods. I reapply every 2 hours or so...whenever I remember. Read more

I was searching high and low for an all natural, non-toxic, broad spectrum, non-nano, sensitive skin safe sunscreen for what feels like forever!!! Me and my son both have Eczema. So it's been quite a challenge to find a sunscreen that didn't irritate our sensitive skin. I can finally say that I found "the one" and it actually works!! This sunscreen works great and I feel better about using it because it doesn't have a bunch of bad stuff in it. I reviewed a lot of other products before purchasing this one. it is a bit thick of course and requires some rubbing in but it does work. It can leave a bit of a white film but I've come to realize that that is to be expected from more natural products. I'd rather put this on our baby than something with chemicals in it. My husband does not like the smell of it, he says it smells like metal... well, it does because of the ingredients but I don't mind the smell. With a lovely flowery scent comes the chemicals that made it that way. I have not found it to come off easily after applied to where we've experienced a sunburn but we have not used it over a 6 hour period to test it further than that. I have no clue if this works cos my daughter haven't stayed outdoor in the sun for more then 5 hours. She's got a bit color, I assume it's normal though.The only reason I give it a one star is because the product arrived with the aluminum seal loose, the cream came out in the lid. I used it because there is expire date on the tube, and it's months away, otherwise would throw it away or return it. Still, I think the product should have arrived well sealed in case of contamination. Read more
