Over the last year the price has gone from $40 for 30 to $45 for 30 to now $52 for 30. That is a 30% increase over one year. Not justified. I've bought quite a few of the Transcend Glucose Gel packets already. As a Type 1 diabetic I always need to keep something with me in case of a low blood sugar emergency. I previously bought the strawberry flavor which was okay and decided to try the orange and was surprised that I actually really liked it a lot more.HOWEVER, I've had issues with quite a few of these bursting open in my purse. these were delivered promptly and arrived a day earlier than expected. the price was the best available. Only thing to note is the expiration date looked like 2012 so i was going to return it, however, when using a magnifying glass I noticed there was a printing error (line struck through the date) and when enlarged could see it had a 2022 expiration (good) not a 2012 so all is good. Just don't be alarmed if you order it and think expiration date is 2012. It might not be. Use a magnifying glass to be sure of the expiration date before you think about returning the item. I am very satisfied with these glucose packets. They are extremely easy to open and consume, even if you are having an insulin reaction. The flavor is reasonably good, and there's a berry flavor that is available as well. Your body can absorb the glucose much faster than candy, and given that they are liquid, they are faster to consume than glucose tablets and the flavor is better. They are smaller to carry around than the glucose "shots" that come in a little bottle, and they are less expensive as well if you are able to buy them in bulk (I bought the 30 packet quantity). I was a little surprised with the first packet I received as some of them were 7.5 gm packets and others were 15 gm packets -- the 7.5 gram packets had been at the top of the package and the 15 gm packets beneath. By the time I discovered the two different sizes I had already consumed half the package, so I wasn't able to confirm that I really got the full amount promised. But I give these an A+. As a diabetic, I have used more of these than I can count! They work quickly, and that is the #1 goal. With that being said, I can’t tell you how much I would LOVE to see a few new flavors. Apple, black cherry, Lime perhaps. I am SO very tired of the same old flavors after years of using them. it kinda makes me gag every now and then. These items are so darn expensive, and yet... when you have no other source of carbs and a "40" or so hypo, THEN how much would y ou pay??? So - I carry a couple of them at all times, esp. when traveling, and as mentioned, if there's no other ready source and a hypo comes upon you, you will be very glad you paid for these things.I was far away from a carb source of any kind a few weeks ago, and recalled that I had two of these gels in my cargo shorts' pocket, and they fixed me up almost instantaneously.
