When it comes to temporary (washes out in shower) gray root coverage, I've used sprays, compacts (look like blushes or eyeshadows) and anything else you can imagine. This is hands down the best I've come across! It's the simplest, quickest and cleanest application I have found. Sprays are sticky and difficult to get at hair line nearest the face without actually getting it on your face. Compacts are nice, but very time consuming. This is like a thick marker. So far, I am diggin’ this product’s gray-covering abilities, though application can be tricky, as the marker will color your scalp if you’re not careful. I’d give it a higher review if it were more affordable, but other than the application trickiness, this product covers my grays. I've tried lots of different products to help cover up greys, and this is by far the best. It looks natural, and the thickness of the applicator makes it easy to apply. Also, your hair does not get crunchy like it does with spray-on cover-ups. Read more

This stuff is amazing. It covers gray and extends my coloring out two weeks or more since most of my gray is above my ears. It actually doesn't wash out so I can keep adding color as the hair grows and not have to go back over the part I have already markered over. I have brownish roots with added high lights, and the blonde is dark enough to color but light enough to not have the line be dramatic for new growth. I would like a dark blonde if I could find it, but it doesn't seem to exist. I tried the brown, and it is dark brown- too dark for me.The texture is barely noticeable, unlike many of the others that weigh down the hair or feel sticky once it dries. Also once it dries (a minute or two) it does not smear or wipe off, it is a part of your hair just like regular hair coloring.I have tried the mascara-like ones, the sprays, and the root touch up kits- this is far superior.I use it on wet hair also, which does work despite the directions, but the water on the marker seems to shorten its useful life. This is probably the 5th one I have bought in 4 years, they last quite a while. Read more

I’m not sure who writes these reviews in here but most are out right incorrect. This product DOES rub off on hands and clothes even when dry! It also leaves hair stiff. No worth the money at all! I came off on my hand and on my shirt when I tried to get dressed even after I let it dry for over an hour. Not worth the money. Read more

This root marker works as expected. If you are a bright, dark red-head (as I was in my younger days) this could be perfect. My hair has evolved to a light auburn with some gray, so unfortunately this is too bright and dark for me. So be warned - if you are more auburn like I am, this might not work. I use this to cover gray around the hairline and also to lowlight my light blonde hair. I have used cover-up sprays but I find that the spray is very hard to control. Too much comes out. For instance, I want to lowlight strands of hair but with the spray it's very hard to apply root to end without ending up with uneven/thick spots instead of a narrow streak from root to end. Bottom line: the marker goes on wherever you put it; you have total control of where and how thick or thin of an area you want covered. I'm through with sprays. Read more

Bought the Light Auburn one for these Covid times when you can't get to the hairdresser. Just wanted to hide my roots. However it dries really crusty on your hair and the next day the colour has gone but leaks into your scalp. As I chose a reddish tint it looked like my head was bleeding! As well as having your roots still showing. I'm just going to buy a proper hair dye and wait for my hairdresser to re-open. Sorry can't recommend this product. Read more

Unfortunately this product 'does NOT do what it says on the tin' okay 'tube'. It's claim is that it covers growing roots until hair is washed. Fair enough, only it doesn't even cover root colour at all, despite re-applying several times. I guess 'grow grey gracefully' should be in this product's 'very' small print. Read more

I love this product!! I have coloured auburn-red hair and my roots needed doing as I was about to go on holiday in the sun for a week. I worried that the sun, sea, chlorine from the pool would be bad for any new colour I might put on so decided not to re-apply the colour. Howevr, my roots looked awful so I searched for a 'root touch-up' product that would suit my colour. I searched high and low, in shops and online. There was literally NOTHING suitable. Then I spotted this product on Amazon and the colour looked perfect for me. It is a little unusual in that you use it like a thick marker pen to cover over your roots/parting in between shampoos/colour re-application. Though I thought it was quite expensive (nearly £20) it does come from America so I thought it was worth it as it did the job of covering my grey roots perfectly and improved my confidence when going out in the evenings on holiday. I would highly recommend this product for anybody with auburn-red (that's ginger, not raspberry!) hair : I've not seen anything like this before. Read more

In this lockdown situation where we are unable to get our normal haircare services I was desperate for a root colourant solution. Bought this and utterly disappointed. Absolutely misleading and awful product, especially given the cost. Had to go into work today and needed a product to disguise my horrendous roots. Did my research and this product seemed to be able to do the job so I ordered on faith. Received last night and tried it out in advance of using it after a hair wash and all it did was make my roots darker and look greasy. Feel really missold and still have awful root regrow this. Due to Hairdressers being shut I bought this product to cover my grey regrow this. I found it to be very good, it covered the sides and most of the middle on top. Very pleased. May not bother to have the colour redone at the shop, just keep using this product until it has all grown out. Read more
