I am reviewing these covers because reading reviews was SO helpful to me when I was new to cloth diapering and trying to figure out what in the world to buy. After exhaustive research I decided to start with Thirsties Duo Wrap Snaps and use them along with Green Mountain Diapers Size Small prefolds (yellow stripe). I couldn't be happier with my choice! Prefolds and covers are the most economical choice for cloth diapering and we have saved so much money, not to mention all of the waste that isn't in a landfill. There are a few really great features built into these covers-1. They are adjustable both around the waist and the rise. My daughter is 5 months old, just over 13 pounds, in the 50th percentile for height and weight and we still have plenty of room to enlarge the waist. It's great that they can "grow" with your baby.2. They have leg gussets which really hold in the liquidy poo. We received a diaper cake and some disposable diapers from people who didn't know that we were cloth diapering so we used disposables for the first month and we constantly had blowouts onto our daughter's clothes! With the Thirsties a blowout onto her clothes is extremely rare. The cover really does an amazing job containing everything, just make sure that all of the prefold is tucked in. One complaint about the gussets, they are white which is silly because that makes them harder to keep clean looking.3. They dry really fast. Take them out of the washer and 10 minutes later they are ready to go.4. They aren't ridiculously bulky and I feel like my daughter is comfortable in them. They don't leave red marks on her chubby little legs or tummy.Another thing I was so confused about when I was pregnant and shopping was how many diapers to buy. There was so much conflicting information out there! So I started with 4 Thirsties Duo Wrap Snaps and 1 Thirsties Duo Wrap Aplix. Definitely get the snaps! The Aplix isn't as good because it doesn't hold up in the wash. A couple of times I've changed my daughter and the velcro had come completely undone. I've also read reviews where people said their baby figured out how to undo the velcro and I can totally see that happening when my baby gets a little older. So I have a total of 5 covers and it is JUST enough. I wash a load of diapers every other day. I think 6 covers would be the perfect amount. I have 24 prefolds and that is enough. I ordered 36 and I still have 12 sitting in the original packaging brand new.A few more tips that may be helpful for cloth diapering newbies-1. Don't buy into all the hype about cloth diapering friendly detergent. I literally read for hours about how to strip your washing machine and what detergents work and what detergents don't work and on and on and on. Forget it. If you're going with cotton prefolds and covers then none of that applies to you. I use Tide Original Powder and it's awesome. But don't use fabric softener! It will leave a residue that will build up on your diapers and keep them from absorbing. I bought wool dryer balls and they are AMAZING. They make everything dry faster and help with static.2. Jelly roll fold is by FAR the best for keeping in liquidy baby poo.3. Snappis are awesome.4. You can't use traditional diaper rash creams with cloth diapers for the same reason that you can't use fabric softener...it creates a build-up. So nothing with zinc-oxide. I bought CJ's Butter which is cloth diaper friendly and I like it a lot but it was expensive and you know what? My daughter hardly ever has a diaper rash because cloth diapering is so great. If you do have rash issues, try organic coconut oil, it's awesome.5. Consider using disposables just for the first week when the baby is pooping the meconium. It's a black tarry substance that will definitely stain your nice new cloth.I really, really hope this review helps some new Mommies or just new-to-cloth-diapering Mommies! :)UPDATE: I just finally sized up at 7 months and about 15.5 pounds. She still had room in the waist but had outgrown the rise. I'm still thrilled with the covers (they are still in fantastic condition!) and am continuing on with Size 2s.UPDATE AGAIN: 17 months and we are still going strong in the size 2s. :)UPDATE AGAIN: My daughter potty trained at 17 months right after my last update. Another benefit of cloth diapers is that kids often potty train sooner because they actually can feel when they are wet. I'm now using the same exact prefolds and covers that I used for my daughter on my 3 week old son. They are just as awesome the second time around! Read more

What I DON'T like about Thirsties:1) Thirties covers did not work for my son early on (born at 7.5 lbs) because they would leak. Once he was around 15 lbs I began using the size one again and had better luck. I just recently realized that, although it claims double leg gussets, the outer gusset is sewn in such a way that it doesn't even wrap my son's leg. So essentially the only "working" gusset is the inner one. I have a picture of Thirsties (left) and another brand that I really like (right) and you can see that the other brand truly does have double gussets as the outer one fits next to the leg.2) The white uncovered elastic on the inner gusset stains SO easily! What I DO like about Thirsties:1) The elasticized front flap (elastic under the belly) is super helpful. Another brand that I like does not have elastic here and it can gape.2) In all I really like the fit around the waist and the trim fit over our folded flats, but I think the leg fit could be improved. I have a toddler that's fully potty trained. We did Honest Company diapers and now that she only needs night time diapers I decided to do cloth diapering. We bought one order of AlVABABY Charcoal Bamboo Inserts with Gussets Cloth Diaper Liner ,5-Layer Reusable Liners for Baby Cloth Diapers 6PCS and two orders of the Thirsties Duo Wrap Cloth Diaper Cover, Snap Closure Size Two. I don't care if you judge me for just now trying cloth diapers. It was our decision and if you are in my same situation then I suggest you give these a try. What I do is use: two of these gusset inserts and the Thirsties diaper cover. No night time leaks. My kid tosses all night but these work wonderfully. She calls them her "big diaper." I do a load of laundry every day so I just toss all 3 pieces in the load first thing in the morning. I do air dry the inserts and diaper cover. Read more

Update: i now use these during the day with a flat diaper and LOVE it! As you can see in picture...no daytime bulk on my 10 month 20 lbs babe. Used with a Birdseye flat with one cotton or hemp insert. Will only use with a flat diaper as inserts will slide around and PUL will touch baby’s skin. Prefer these to grovia hybrid covers (which I also love for only daytime) because I can wipe them clean unlike grovia that has the mesh which can get soaked.I love thirsties. The double gussets help a lot with my heavy wetter side sleeper. I use these at night stuffed to capacity with a folded flat diaper and hemp inserts. Holds all the bulk in and the double gussets keeps liquid in.I prefer these at night and not so much during the day bc my folded flats and inserts shift. It would be great for fitted diapers as a cover.Dry time is a breeze. I tried everything, including double-diapering, to keep my toddlers dry through the night. These covers, combined with some cloth inserts and a disposable diaper, finally got us there.I've tried it a few different ways, and the covers are by far the most important aspect of my Macgyver-overnight-diapering.One kid has very chubby legs and a chubby butt, and his diapers would leak from the top. Another has a skinny little butt and scrawny legs, and his would leak from the sides. The fact that these covers effectively protect both of them from leaks says it all, in my opinion.(I do part-time cloth diapering with them as well, and I've never had a leak from that, but I think the overnight protection is the most impressive part!) Disappointed, as I had heard good things about these covers. Would not buy again due to the poorly designed white trim. Bought three to use on top of disposable diapers as we're having lots of issues with diaper blowouts. The cover mostly contains the poo, but the white trim browns and won't wipe clean. So the cover needs to go in the wash most of the time and is nonetheless permanently stained by poo and is gross looking. Now looking to buy new ones from another company. Read more

Works ok but I got covers that are better in quality and more affordable. The material is thin and stiff, not as soft as the Rumparooz or KaWaii covers. Also, I find that it unsnaps easily when pulled slightly especially the snaps on the rise. I expected it to be better because of the price and other reviews. But compared to the more affordable KaWaii and Rumparooz covers, the Thirstily covers are disappointing. Read more

Definitely the bang for my buck! Thirsties' customer service is excellent, and the quality is too. I've tried several diaper covers, and these are hands-down my favourite. The inner leg gusset is a clothes-saver, especially for those nasty poosplosions. They wash beautfully, and hang-dry quickly. I still use these for my 18mo for her overnight diaper solution, over a fitted with a Thirsties Duo insert (she's a heavy wetter). Read more

These are the best covers we've used! Nothing has leaked out of them ever, and they seem comfortable on my baby. The sizing seems to run a little small, so we found that even though my baby is on the lean side, we went to size two before he outgrew the weight range. Read more
