When we introduced Thinkbaby over 4 years ago, 95% of the baby bottles on the market were made of polycarbonate, which contains BPA. We attempted to convince the major companies to remove polycarbonate from their products. After being unsuccessful, we launched Thinkbaby and Thinksport to address the concern of chemicals leaching from consumer products. We started with the baby bottle, because polycarbonate was ubiquitous across the industry. As babies' systems are in a state of development, they have very little defense against foreign chemicals. Many bottles still contain BPA despite saying "BPA Free" (see Health Canada study). Thinkbaby utilizes the precautionary principle in the creation of our products. We don't jump to "new" materials without doing the requisite testing to ensure that we haven't landed on another "BPA-like" material. Thinkbaby and Thinksport's focus has led us to be the first company to span safe consumer products ranging from babies to adults. We built the Thinkbaby straw bottle with a soft silicone straw. This makes it perfect for the advancement into the next stage of feeding. The straw features a cross-cut design so liquids do not spill when the bottle is held upside down. The top of the bottle features an easy to close cover to keep it from coming into contact with foreign substances. The Sippy cup and Thinkster have won numerous awards. The Thinkster is made from No. 5 plastic and can be recycled after use. We do not use clear plastic windows with our products. We have found that these windows are made from PET or PVC. One of the great things about the Thinkbaby system is that you can convert the bottles to the next stage of feeding. The Baby bottle becomes The Sippy which becomes The Thinkster. Simply purchase the Thinkster Conversion kit. Take the collar off of the baby bottle (along with the spout) and screw on the Thinkster top. Presto change - The Thinkster.

This is our new favorite straw cup! TL;DR: Safer materials, no leaks...what more could you really ask for in a sippy?!Pros:- The base is stainless steel, and the straw is silicone, so no worries about things leaching from plastics into the liquid.- Cup is a good size. Generous capacity (10oz) yet not too large- (Removable) handles make the cup very easy to grip- Truly LEAK-FREE! The straw has a cross-cut end to contain liquids, and the vent is covered on the inside. I know lots of the other reviews complain about leaks, but I'm guessing they may not have been aware that you have to make sure the vent is properly covered by the little rubber piece on the inside -- as long as we do that, we've never had a leak. I'll add a couple pics to demonstrate what I mean. Also, a few times I've screwed it on incorrectly, and in those cases it did leak, but the issue was remedied as soon as I noticed the issue and took a moment to screw it on correctly. If you don't think you'd have the patience to take care to make sure you close up everything correctly each time, then this might not be the right cup for you.The only cons for me:- The straw is fairly difficult to remove from the top piece (you have to really yank), but I generally only fully disassemble every few washes anyway (when I'm just serving water), so this isn't that big a deal.- The handles spin freely around the base, which is a little annoying, but not the end of the world. Also, because of the handles this cup won't fit into deeper cupholders (though it fits fine in shallower ones)I've tried two other glass/stainless steel straw cups, and can provide a brief comparison:1) Pura Kiki with the straw top ( Pura Stainless Steel Bottle With Silicone Straw & Sleeve, Green ). Also really love this system, but it doesn't have handles so I think it's harder to grip for toddlers. It's also leak-free, but the travel cap is also less convenient than on the Thinkbaby, so I think the Thinkbaby is easier to take on the go.2) Green Sprouts Sip N Straw ( Green Sprouts Cup - Sip N Straw - Glass - 6 Months Plus - Aqua - 1 Count ). Lots more pieces to assemble/wash, since there's a glass inner layer and plastic outer layer. We haven't had a problem with the glass breaking, but other parents have. Has handles, but they also spin freely. Not good for travel since you have to remove the straw and put in the travel disc to make it leakproof.Overall the Thinkster is the one I am reaching for first right now.I'm also adding a pic with a size comparison vs. some other popular sippy cups (BACK: Camelbak, Thinkster, Skip Hop, Munchkin 360 larger model; FRONT: Munchkin weighted straw cup, Oxo Tot, Pura, Thermos Foogo) Read more
I was hoping to use this as a water bottle for my son, however, the straw/silicon portions of the bottle smell really bad and the chemical order infiltrates whatever liquid you put in the bottle and makes it taste/smell really bad. I tried everything to clean it and NOTHING works. Vinegar, baking soda, sterilizing, everything. Nothing works and the odor always returns. I tried contacting customer service multiple times and received no response from this awful company. Do not buy this product. It's sitting unused in the bottom of a drawer. Read more
When I first got the bottle I LOVED it!! Didn’t leak much except at times if he shook it enough just a little would come out. Kept contents cold for a long time. After a few uses I started noticing an awful smell inside the bottle after liquid was sitting in it for at least an hour. Didn’t matter what it was...water, milk...it had this horrible moldy smell. I cleaned this bottle everyday and took all the pieces apart religiously to make sure everything was washed and dried well because I always worry about mold so this was not lack of cleaning. The bottle always smelled great in the beginning. It would always be after an hour or two. Make sure to smell your bottle after a while to see if it stinks because I’m not so sure this is made of good materials. Read more
I really wanted to give this a better review. I like a lot of things about the Thinkster, but the straw is terrible. After only a few uses, it was totally shredded (and my child is not a biter). I thought it must be a fluke so I contacted the company through their website, no response. I contacted them again, no response. I went on their facebook page and found many people complaining about the same issue and not hearing back from the company. The response on facebook gave another email address to try and I still have not heard back from them. You can buy replacement straws, but it's $8-9 per set, which is a bit much if you have to replace them on a regular basis. I've never had this experience with any other sippy cup straws. Also, the handles on this make it hard to fit in a cup holder or diaper bag. So, we use it without them. Read more
WE LOVE THIS CUP! I am seriously sad that I didn't have this cup for my two older kiddos when they were toddlers. My youngest is hard on cups. He will only use straw cups, he chews the straws (A LOT), drags the cups around, drops the cups... the whole 9 yards! He is also autistic and has sensory issues, so he can be very picky. He took to this cup instantly! Within 2 minutes he was drinking from this cup and there were NO LEAKS! OH-MY-GOSH! I am constantly wiping water off of the couch or juice spots off of the floor from OTHER cups... not this one. We seriously have not had a SINGLE leak. I am blown away, so impressed! I ordered a set of the replacement straws, but I haven't needed them yet. Since ordered this cup, we've ordered a couple of the plastic version and we love them as well. This one is our favorite though! Read more
Really liked this at first but unfortunately no matter how I clean it or how often, a strange chemical taste leaks from (I'm assuming) the straw giving the water a funky taste. Super bummed since my toddler loved it and it never leaked. Read more
We loved the concept of this.Unfortunately our toddler would need the suction power of a jet engine (or being kind, a vacuum cleaner) to get enough water from this.I tried it myself and it drew the cheeks in as I tried to suck the water in through the straw. I tried fiddling with the straw etc to no avail.I took a chance on this when I read Amazon.com reviews that this cup is prone to leaking - quite frankly I wish it did, maybe then my son would have managed to get some water! It's a great idea, no nasties involved, but our son went from drinking cups of water a day to barely a quarter of one of these which is obviously just not enough so we returned ours. A shame, but the search for a suitable non plastic cup continues. Read more
I recommend you don't buy this. It's over priced. Its not insulated. You cannot clean the inside of the lid straw. The water always tastes of chemicals. It leaks. I'm so disappointed after spending £28 I thought it was going to be a great item. Read more
this is very hard for toddlers to suck milk or water. If we pour medium hot milk into the bottle, the bottle is very hot and difficult to hold for toddlers. Read more

These used to be awesome. I loved them so much I own 6 for 2 children over the past 2 years. The problem is not the sippy cup but the replacement straws. The first few batches of replacement straws I bought were great - just like the originals. However, I have purchased about 8 packages of replacement straws in the past year because the quality as diminished greatly. I can actually feel the difference in the strength and thickness of the new straws vs. the original ones. The straw tips have holes in them after 2 weeks now. And that's even with several straw tips to rotate. My kids are older now and past the age where they would chew on everything so I'm 99.9% sure it's the straws. I'm actually thinking of tossing the all 6 sippy cups as they are becoming a major expense at this point, which is a shame because they were so awesome. Read more
