Thermalon heat wraps work wonders. I'm 27 and I've had chronic migraines DAILY for over 15 years, and these heat wraps have been a God send. I have two of the regular sized heat wraps which I purchased from CVS a few years ago. Those are still going strong, though over time they just tend to not hold the heat for as long... Understandable seeing as I use them several times a week, several times a day. The reason I rated the face wrap a 4 is because the tie is kind of awkward. It would be great if this had an elastic band and also if it were longer to stretch further across the sides and back of my head. The design is why I gave it a 4, but it works like a 5. If you suffer from migraines, fibromyalgia and TMJ like I do, you need to try these thermalon heat wraps. A minute and a half in the microwave is all it takes to start feeling better. I use them at home, at work, and I bring them with me when I travel. I use them on my neck, my face, my head, my mouth, even my legs (those of you with fibromyalgia understand). They help SO much with tension and sinus headache, and with muscle aches and pains. I have wasted a lot of money trying other brands of microwaveable wraps... This is so convenient to use - handy to have. If you have sinus issues, forehead headaches, or even sore back-of-the-neck, or tops of shoulders this warm weighted item can provide some comfort and relief. I found an amazing product in Japan that were these moist heat eye masks that felt amazing on, but were just 1 time use and disposable. I wanted to find something that gave that relief but that was reusable. I'm often working on the computer very late at night and get super dry fatigued eyes that really show the next day. I saw a lot of the heated eye masks were just that, heated but not the moist heat that I wanted. Perfect for Sinus/Migraines! I have bought some of the gel-bead masks, and no matter what microwave I put them in, I end up with a half-full mask and a bunch of liquified beads - even when following directions and microwaving for less time than the max. I saw this and figured "what the hell, it can't be any worse." The moist heat, especially in the eye mask, is WONDERFUL. I find that this retains the heat as well as any of the other eye masks that I have purchased. While some reviewers have remarked that it's heavy or the beads all slide down to the bottom, I have found that if you lay back (Like laying your back on the couch, or in bed) then the weight of the beads actually feels nice. If you try and wear this sitting up, of course all the beads are going to settle at the bottom. But for me, considering I can't see while wearing it anyway, I take the opportunity to lay back and relax (or in the case of a headache, lay back and wait for it to please, dear god, be over). I just lay back, adjust the beads so they are evenly distributed, and wait. This thing has been a life saver since I got it - I almost missed Christmas because of a migraine!Since my purchase, I bought my mom one, I have just recently ordered the sleeve for some joint pain in my hand (and one for my boyfriend's arthritis), and one for those pesky menstrual cramps. I'm a huge fan of these products.While I understand some people would have preferred these come with an elastic strap, rather than a ribbon, I think the ribbon was the right choice. As a woman with long hair, I've had hairs ripped out, and expensive pillowcases destroyed by elastic straps on sleep masks, and eventually, the elastic wears out, meaning you have to move it tighter, exposing more elastic, and damaging more stuff.... I'm reading the 1 star reviews and it seems they got knock-offs. Mine has the red THERMALON logo all on one side of the product.I have the flu and this is heaven on my sinuses right now. I'm putzing online so I folded it in half, tied the thing in a bow (I admit it should be elastic for usage around your head) and it fits perfectly in my hand and against one side of my sinus. The silk side is so soft against my face, and the beads are soft as well. I find only hot water bottles can hold heat for a really long time, so that said, this thing holds heat an expected amount of time for not being a hot water bottle (a handful of minutes). It contours so nicely and softy against my eye(s). Seems well built/sewn. If it breaks with normal usage, i will definitely update my rating to reflect this. So far so good. Glad I bought it. Recently received so I can't yet say long term effefts of regular dry heat (purchased for dry eyes) or product durability. Overall first impressions after a few uses though:Pros:- Feels soothing- Warms easily in microwave- Can be use for coolness as well in the freezer- Outer fabric seems durable- Good reviews on efficacy seem promising- Beads can be moved around if desired for light massaging affectCons:- "Strap" is nothing more than ribbon which would need to be tied (continuous use will definitely wear it out) and it's not very convenient...can be rested over face while lying down as an alternative- Lack of Velcro should be noted or visible imo- Beads are less than 50% full, I've struggled to get them even but once I do, they slide off the the sides, nothing remains in the forehead area and it gives uneven heat over eyes and sinusesI plan to try it for a few more days to see if I'll be keeping it. As a sufferer of sinusitis I thought I would try this as opposed to medication. Used it twice now and it certainly helps and the shape of the masks sit on the sinuses and the warmth definitely helps with nasal congestion, reduces swelling and pain.
