I was going to let my kid pick either the small or the big Juno the Unicorn, but he said it’s mommy and baby and they must stay together. So he got to keep both. For anyone else losing every fight to their kid’s very sound logic, here’s photo of the two side by side so maybe you do the picking before showing them both. The small one comes in a bag, is more of a fist full, and instructions say to microwave for 10 seconds. The warmth is minimal and it’s more for boo boo routine or comfort, more than real delivery of heat. He does love to hold it tightly in his hand when falling asleep, and the size is great for that. The big one can actually pack some warmth. The instruction is to microwave for 30 seconds, after which the corn made material inside its belly becomes warm, but not hot, and feel comfortable to hug without any dangerous heat. I’m tempted to heat it up more but it says to not overheat so I’m holding back. It’s spot clean only, no washing machine, so you must keep it relatively clean. While it's a bit on the small side, it's still a very cute, adorable unicorn doll. They claim the doll is created with medical grade materials. Inside the doll, they mention the addition of mold resistant corn kernels. To be honest, I was wondering if the corn would pop when heated in the microwave (it didn't). We have some heating pads with different materials, like flax seed; this is the first with corn kernels. It does function as stated. When placed in the refrigerator, it does hold cold for over 30 minutes (they say 45 minutes, but I stopped timing it after 30 minutes).I think the bit selling point, is the cute factor. I think any child, and most adults, would enjoy holding/cuddling with this unicorn. I wish it was a bit larger, though. But, I understand the size, since they seem to mention it's use with babies and toddlers. I got this as a reward for our kids' treasure chest. As soon as I added it to the chest the very next time our kids (3 and 6 years old) went to pick reward gifts they immediately wanted this one! They have been obsessed with it since and love how the can heat it and find it soothing to help them fall asleep. We got both this mini and the original size so they share the two with each other, this one is definitely pretty small but they still enjoy it. I got this one as well as the regular-sized one, and I've included a picture of the two side-by-side. I felt like the bigger one did as advertised, but this mini one didn't work quite as well as I'd hoped.It says to heat this for 10 seconds. That did pretty much nothing. I'd say that 20 is good for a small child, and 30 seconds is more appropriate for a bigger kid or an adult. Honestly, though, it's so small that I think it would only realistically work well as a heating pad for a child up to maybe about 5. While the bigger stayed warm for 45+ minutes, this one only lasted about 15 minutes.Before purchasing this, I would definitely suggest looking at the dimensions. While my niece, who is four, is enjoying carrying it around like a stuffed animal, I don't see us using it much as a heating pad. Maybe, it works better as a cooling pad. I haven't tried it that way.This is cute, and it is fun for my niece to play with this one and the bigger one (mama and baby), but if you are thinking about getting just one, I would suggest the bigger unicorn. I ordered this mini size unicorn & their normal sized unicorn to give to my 3 going on 4 yo niece. What I didn't know until it arrived is that the filling is made of "specially engineered corn."I submitted a question to the seller on both the regular size & this page regarding the GMO status of the corn. They never answered. Cute. Real cute. I waited, they clearly don't plan to respond, so thanks for that.I do understand that some folks don't care about the whole genetically modified thing. My sister is one of them. I am obviously on the other side of the fence & am wholeheartedly against it.For those who are happy to buy this even with frankencorn, I have provided photos of this unopened in the box with the mini version also unopened. There is a huge size difference between the two. They are not kidding when they call the other a "mini". As far as looks go, these are absolutely adorable.I was initially glad to see something made from "natural" ingredients rather than petrochemical byproducts, but if the "natural" cotton is conventional cotton there is a 80-90% chance it to is GMO & is one of the most heavily chemical sprayed crops. Not that I can really afford much GOTS organic cotton myself, but I do try where I can. But the corn thing, geeze. Couldn't they pick a different type of filler? They clearly love their GMO's.I'm leaving this at 3 stars. It's super cute, the packaging is cute. It's great for gifting if you don't care a bit about the whole genetically engineered thing.
