My terrier had a large open wound on her neck from the after effects of tick fever. The bacteria from that fever when also treated with antibiotics (oxycycline and others) would cause large area open wound eruptions. These were large enough that stitches would normally be required. Because of the stress from anesthesia and difficulty in preventing the stitches from failing, I elected to leave the wound unstitched similar to some responses to a MOHS (skin squamous cancer cell surgery type response) recovery. I would use this ointment applied directly on the open wound to prevent infection, apply a rectangular three (3") inch abdominal pad and wrap the area on her neck to prevent scratching. A very heavy application twice a day of the ointment on the wound was extremely effective with nearly overnight results as the wound started to close. I can unconditionally recommend this product.
