I have been needing a new night guard for quite some time, and finally got around to talking to my dentist only to find out the cost of a new one would be $560.00!So... amazon here I come! I read many reviews and checked on many different kinds of night guards, and decided to try SWEETGUARDS.I liked that they send out a kit to make a mold of your teeth at home, figuring the guard would be custom made just for me.I received the kit and made 2 not-so-great molds and sent them to SWEETGUARDS. The company could not use my badly made molds and sent me a whole new kit... free of charge... for me to try again. I did; and I made 2 great molds and sent those to the company. Soon after I received my custom made night guard. For everyone... please note that you can either request a HARD guard or a SOFT guard. I inadvertently ordered a HARD guard and was not happy with it.NO problem.... SWEETGUARDS sent me a SOFT guard at absolutely no extra cost. I am so happy with this night guard! I initially ordered a 1mm hard night guard but it was really thin, and I was afraid I would chew through it in no time. The thin one is good for people that don’t grind their teeth a lot. I messaged them and they recommended the 3mm soft inner/hard outer guard and were able to have it made with the impressions I had already sent in. I received the new nightguard in just a few days and I was amazed! This is truly a quality product professional made. The fit was absolutely perfect and soo comfortable. The soft inner part is not rubber, it is a different type of plastic that is completely integrated with the harder plastic. You can’t even tell there are different layers or anything. It is very durable so I’m not concerned that the inner side will wear away. The night guard fits comfortably snug and still feels thin and light. Another great thing is that I don’t sound like a nerd when I talk and I can drink water at night without having to remove it without any problems. When I open my mouth it doesn’t come off and I haven’t woken up to find that it came out in my sleep or anything. This used to happen occasionally with the store bought home made night guards (which is icky and was embarrassing when my husband would find it somewhere in the bed loll)I’ve always grinded and clenched my teeth in my sleep since I was a child, regardless of stress. So for the past few years I have been using the temporary night guards that are made at home. These are mostly rubbery plastic and for me wear they wear out in 1-2 months at most, so buying these often actually gets pretty expensive over time since they range from $20-30. They also don’t work as well because I still would have jaw pain and specific areas of tooth pain because these dont protect against pressure. I was hesitant to buy a night guard made by a lab cause a long time ago I had one made by by denstist’s lab but it was super expensive but really bulky and unsightly and I didn’t use it long. After that I just didnt use a night guard for several years and ended up wearing away a lot of my enamel and since then have been dealing with cavities and other dental issues. So now I can’t sleep without a night guard and I’m so happy and thankful to have finally found a long term solution! My dentist has mentioned several times that I need a night guard. I’ve made a few over the counter types that never fit correctly and very uncomfortable. I can’t afford a night guard from my dentist at the rate of nearly $700 and my insurance won’t cover it. I found this company on line and decided to give it a try. I couldn’t believe the quick delivery of the impression kit. I mean it was literally just a few days. I made the impressions as per their instructions and shipped it back to them the next day. Before I knew it I received an email that my night guard was on its way. In a few more days it arrived on a Sunday. I wore it last night and I literally slept very well with it. This company is very prompt on customer service. They really want the customers to be satisfied. I've had many mouth guards ($2000) and this is one of the best. Easy directions to follow and the video is a great teaching tool for assurance of it being done correctly. Even though customer service has set 'times' to contact, it seems they work non-stop. I purchased the 2mm soft guard and I'm really pleased with my purchase. I'm a moderate grinder and this guard is very comfortable and very quick to get used to. It's not too thick and I like the fact that it's flexible. The last guard I owned was a hard one and it broke after a few months. I also never got used to it and found it too overbearing, never again. I just hope that I won't be chewing through this one too soon but I'm okay getting another if it means that I'm comfortable using it daily. Customer service was also very helpful and responsive.
