I was amazed how easy it is to apply this product compared to regular henna. My hair was so smooth and nicely colored that I thought it was too good to be true. After trying to order this second time and reading the reviews more carefully, I discovered some people are complaining about the chemical ingredients. I looked the box more carefully and still couldn't figure out where those ingredients are. I flipped the box and finally found the full list of ingredients at the bottom flap of the box! The active ingredient list that is featured in big font does not include those chemically sounding stuffs. Now I don't know how bad those things are but I dislike how deceptive the advertisement is. They have the active ingredient list right on the side of the box featuring all natural sounding ingredients. They have another list in tiny print, repeating the same active ingredients (so you are unlikely to continue to read on) with a whole bunch of other ingredients at the very end of the long list! Even though this product worked well for my Asian black/gray hair, I will not buy this again because I don't like how misleading it is. Read more

This product needs to be left on your hair for 1.5 to 2 hours. Wear a plastic shower cap over your head and follow the directions exactly. Hair needs to be washed the same day and left damp. No added oils to your hair before using or it won't adhere, as well. The bottle is good for 2-3 uses depending on how much hair you have. The results will start washing out with each wash, so try to wash your hair only 1-2 times per week. Each time you wash your hair the color will be different with different highlights showing. This product has no nasty smell and is good for delicate hair and scalps. It is actually good for your hair. It will not cause it to fall out or break or dry out. In fact, it leaves my hair shiny and softer than usual. Just be prepared to use it every 4-6 weeks, depending on how much gray hair you can put up with. This is not a product for frequent hair washers. Read more

At least 3 different stylists have commented on my great hair color. When I tell them I use henna they are stunned. Every one has said how henna usually does not do a good job covering gray. My natural hair color is dark brown. When the henna starts to wear off a little my gray gives me nice reddish highlights. I have had my hair professionally colored and I have use normal home color products. They always leave my hair feeling dry and unhealthy. This henna makes my fine hair feel thicker and never dry or over processed. It feels like my normal hair, only better.I took this photo in my bathroom with the heat lamp on. It's the brightest light. This is after 1 week. My gray is only on top in the front. The rest of my hair is naturally dark brown. The color builds up so if you are starting with lots of gray it may take several applications to see the best results. I have been using this for at least 7 years. Without this really bright light it just looks all dark brown. Read more

I love Surya Henna. I have been using it for years and I feel my hair doesn’t suffer so much like with regular coloring products. It does not fall and looks shiny and healthy. However, As I was applying the henna from this seller I noticed it wouldn’t come out of the opening from the bottle so easily. I kept trying to clear out the pathway but it wouldn’t work... I cut the opening substantially and then a bunch of sediment pieces or little beads started to come out!!! I mean it wasn’t like a few... I mean a lot! When I began to try to squish them a dark purple came out of them. Just take a look at the pictures in my post. I am not sure the quality of this product, but it was horrible. It says it expires 2020! Beware. Try to buy from another seller. Read more

I have been using Surya dark brown on my hair for about a year and half and I have loved the fact that I can get color without the worries of chemicals. However, as I was applying the mix on my hair, I felt tiny little rocks as I was applying it. I have NEVER had this problem before and just hope I didn't get a bad batch. As I looked at these tiny hard like rocks, I was able to crush them and it put out a purplish color. I definitely think it was a bad batch! Right now, I'm yet to find out if this affected the color application. I will update post. Read more

I have a black hair with greys in between. I used this product not once but more than 3 timesso far with absolutely no effect when it comes to grey coverage. Total waste of money! I would rather use henna powder than this. I hardly write any reviews though I buy products from Amazon all the time. But I had to write one for this and the other item I recently bought on Amazon as both were so disappointing. Read more

Best hair dye ever. EVER. No chemicals, no mixing, it's creamy and it smells good. It looks way more natural than conventional dyes. It fades but if you play your cards right you can use that to your advantage by just doing the roots after a month or so. It really looks natural and takes highlights if you go out in the sun. Lovely product. Read more

I did as the instructions recommended, but I let it sit for 2 hours based on the other reviews. I suspect I’ll have to do this every 4 weeks since it is a semi permanent. Read more
