I love this gate. I think it's heavy duty and easy to set up IF you can read instructions. There are clearances to set and once you do, you're good. My opening between the kitchen and living room is 47-48 inches, the max this gate accommodates. I took a 2x4 and cut 2 36" sections (miter saw) and put those between the pressure pads and the wall. I did that for 2 reasons. One, to not have the threads for the pressure pads at their full extension, making it a tighter fit. Two, to protect my wall and spread the pressure. Even though this is a baby gate it is also a great pet gate. Was worried though that space between bars would still allow cat to get through. Actual pet gates that I reviewed had fixed wall contacts and wouldn't work for different widths at top and bottom. Most were also too narrow as I have 41 inch hallway opening. Top and bottom are adjustable with this gate. Note in picture, baseboard at bottom. Tension mounted although it comes with screws and and anchors for more solid mounting. Also mounted with one way opening but the gate stop can be removed for opening both ways. Widest opening between bars is 2 7/8 inches. I only needed the 10 inch extension. highly recommend this gate. The media could not be loaded.  Update: Less than a week in and we are unable to use this gate safely. Our Mini-Bernedoodle was able to bend the bars apart enough to get stuck in the opening. After a mad rush home to let him out, thankfully he is safe but the gate is destroyed. This should not be marketed as a pet-safe product if the bars are so easily bent.Easy to install and sturdy, however I didn’t realize that our pup was part kangaroo, so he still gets out by hopping over it. Never would have thought he could clear it, as he is short but apparently he’s got mad hops! Read more

This is a great product!! Awesome quality. It took a short minute to figure out how to get the gate to align but with patience it happened. I bought this because my cat 🐈 would always run into the kitchen to eat anytime someone would enter. IF YOU HAVE CAT, they will walk right through the gate LOL. However, the gate set a boundary for my cat and we trained her that when the gate is open you may enter and when closed you can not enter. Ordered some clickers and took about two weeks for her to learn because cats learn very fast. Overall, I love that you can use this product for safety on stairs to protect children from a dangerous fall or to set boundaries for pets to not enter a certain space. Read more

I bought a couple to use with our staircase, one on the bottom and one on the top.I fell for auto-close feature.As soon as I received it and installed it, I realized the latch is not designed to actually "lock" the gate.This gate is not worth it, especially if you have a curious toddler.Rather, the "lock" is just a place holder.Even the manual says, to open it, lift up and push the gate.With the same manner, toddlers can push the gate then, bamm, the door is now open.I ended up returning these. We had to change gate since the previous one was too narrow for our opening. Installed this one on top of our stairs, using screws and pressure, I have to admit it does the job greatly, while the previous one gave me headaches and never really stick to the dry wall we have.This one works great, very easy to install and stays put.Our 3 years old daughter sometimes "tests it", up to now it never failed. The gate has been installed for the younger sister.Our opening is 110cm/43.3in and we used only the larger extension. Potentially it could fit both extensions, but it would have been too difficult to tight it correctly.It can be opened with one hand, you just have to put the hand in the correct position and remember to lift the opening as well.The only minus is, they could have thought of a way to avoid slamming it, our older daughter sometimes loves to "tests us" and check what happens slamming the gate. I have two issues with the gate.the first is that it seems to have learned a little since installing it last week, so I had to tighten it a little. The second issue is the description claims that is made in the United States which influenced my decision to buy the gate however the box and inserts stated made in China. This gate lasted a little over 1 year in total for us. This was my first purchase of a baby gate after a LOT of research and input from friends/family and knowing our banister/wall installation needs. My toddler dropped a Melissa & Doug wooden pounding bench thing, it toppled down the carpeted stairs and hit this gate ever so in the PERFECT spot to crack off the junky, plastic connection piece that makes the gate function properly. The gate is now completely useless without this plastic part intact, so I've ordered another one. Very frustrated with plastic connection pieces on baby items. Just know you get what you pay for. I do not have time to research all-metal baby gates, so...going with this model again and will see how long it lasts for our second baby on the way. Read more

This gate works excellent - after looking at what seems over 100 I'm glad I went with this. I have it pressure fitted in the kitchen opening and used the fasteners on the stairs if I need to move back and forth! Very sturdy , even with my 9 month old hanging from it. It's nice and tall - no chance of him ever trying to get over it! I love that it closes behind us - and confident when u hear it close that it is closed!! Definitely happy with my purchase! I love love love this gate. I am not the least bit handy and I not only put together by myself, I even installed it...(just with pressure mount) it is not screw/nail mounted to the wall. it does exactly what we needed and wanted it to do. We just installed the gate and are very pleased. Our door opening is just over 38 in. We used the gate with the 10 in. extension and it fit securely. Pets cannot climb this gate because the bars are vertical and the gate is reasonably tall. We can comfortably walk through this gate. You must push a tab and lift the gate slightly to exit.
