We've raised two kids, and now have two large dogs that we've gated to various areas of the house. We got two of these to gate off the entryway and a sitting room so they don't rush visitors. They are absolutely perfect. They are well-designed to cover the various width openings described, and are sturdy even across the 72" entryway.If you've dealt with other gates note that these don't friction-fit - you MUST screw them into the wall. They come with screws and plastic anchors - everything you need is in the box except for a drill to drill pilot holes and a philips head screwdriver. Installation was easy - maybe 30 minutes total per gate? The mounting installation is exceptionally well-engineered to make it easy for one person to get the gate set up. The wall anchors are also designed well so that you can take the gate down quickly leaving the wall mounts in place unobtrusively.The gate latch is a little clicky at first, but it's settled in fine and nobody in the family has a problem with it except the dogs, which was of course the intent.They look *very* nice and have met with the approval of the Mrs.CAUTION: It's the nature of gates like this that there's a bar across the bottom of the gate opening. If you have dark floors, the dark metal bar is a serious trip hazard. This is not the fault of the manufacturer - just a reality of the way these gates work. I bought fluorescent tape and wrapped several strips across the bottom bar, which pretty much solves the problem. I recommend  Polyken 510-Neon Premium Fluorescent Gaffers Tape: 2 in. x 75 ft. Pretty easy to install, seems sturdy enough (though time will tell). This mounts to the walls permanently but can be removed quickly if needed. The door does not close automatically (which is the way I wanted it). The door opens slightly more than 90 degrees. Read more

The gate does the job, but it is a little more difficult to open and close than I had hoped. The gate latch difficulty can be adjusted by making sure your gate is installed perfectly straight and aligned... Which took us forever, but we ended up being able to open/close with one hand. It's just heavy metal so it's not going to glide like a wood or plastic one. That being said, it's very fancy and I love the look of it. We use it for our dog because he chewed through our wood one. One helpful hint- if you are installing on hard floors, leave an inch or so below for sweeping. Dirt collects under the gate! Read more

Maybe Im just unlucky but it seems like theres a quality control problem at the factory. The welds on two of the extension pieces of my first gate were so far tweaked they couldn't slide into each other. So I called and they sent a replacement. the replacement had a broken weld on one piece (see photos). Between the two sets I was able to assemble one functional gate and it works great and looks about as good as a baby gate can.Cons:- took parts from two packages to make a usable gate; missing weld, welds not 90 degrees- latch mechanism feels like cheap plastic; wish it were metal like the rest of the gatePro- Summer infant was fast and easy to get replacement gate send. Called direct but just as easy as dealing with Amazon returns- fits my 66" opening- unlike other wide span gates that are really one length and just bend at hinge points to fit your opening, this one is straight and extends within itself- looks nice for a baby gate.- easy install- works to confine baby & dog Read more

A few years ago I purchased the wood-metal version of this gate, by Summerwind, which worked great with my elderly dog before she passed away. Last year, however, a newly adopted dog chewed the wood rails almost clean through while when left alone at home for the first time post-adoption. Now that we're coming out of the COVID-19 lockdowns and I expect to entertain guests in my home again this year, it was time to replace what was left of the old gate. Unfortunately, I neglected to note at the time of purchase that like most child/pet fencing, the gate itself is relatively narrow. So the advantage is, my dog won't be able to chew through this all-metal fence and the height is a more suitable (taller than the former one). Even so, this model won't work for my use separating the front door entryway from the rest of the house. The gate is too narrow to have permanently installed near my front door.Instead of using the pressure-mounting of the former wood-and-metal gate, this model uses a different method for setup. This made it harder to assemble and install (spouse spent an hour on assembly/installation before I realized it wouldn't suit our needs.). From the looks of it, this fence would be more secure than the first one we purchased from Summerwind back in 2017; however, upon realizing that the actual gate portion is not wide enough for visitors to our home to pass through, I will be returning it.In general, my observation is that child/pet fences tend to assume only kids and small pets will be passing through the gate itself. Since so many of these fences have this same design problem, I now remember why, I purchased the former model. At the time, it was the only choice that spanned the distance I needed it to cover while also providing a more generous opening. Since I can't find anything that is both tall and wide-gated for my particular application, I will have to take the chance that my dog will destroy a same-model replacement for the old fence. Nice looking gate. Easy enough to install although it will take two people. Metal seemed strong and heavy but welding was poorly done. Noticed when I took it or off the box that one of the bars had broken off at the joint so I had to gorilla glue it back together. So far it's held up so will see how it endures when my husky pups get a little bigger. The cream color matches my walls perfectly and the gate is easy to remove when not needed. A little bit of a pain to install but it works well now that it is done. It is very strong as I have physically fallen into it and it held up. :) We have it installed between two walls that are not perfectly straight on with each other. That is not a standard thing you can do right out of the box. We ended up creating wedges of wood that match the angle we needed and installed those to the wall first. From there we attached the gate perpendicular to the opposite wall. We also mounted it above the baseboard which allows for a 5" gap below the gate. This was done since it is being used as a doggie gate for a Rottie which is obviously going to be a BIG dog. It also allows the cats to slip underneath it. Read more

This gate was absolutely perfect for the wide area we needed it for.Most stair cases are smaller and it was really hard to find a gate as wide as this one.It’s very stable/durable and the quality is amazing. We are very impressed!The only downfall is it took a while to install.Other than that it’s a great gate and definitely worth the money. The only gate that worked for our large opening. The best part is that you can easily remove it when you don't need it. It is all metal, so very safe. The welding seems off in some places but overall it still holds together. The door also opens both ways. The colour is beige and not white. But it goes perfectly with my beige coloured walls. Been using he gate for 4 years and it’s showing no signs of wear and it’s at the main entrance to the house. Very good gate for large openings. If you need to take it out to bring something in or out it pops out in a second with no tools needed. The only downside is you have to screw it to the wall. Read more
