I read all the great reviews so decided to spend the extra money on the best silicone reusable bag to just store distilled water which if truly 100% platinum silicone should be inert. After a week of storage, the water had a pungent odor that not only was in the bag but in the water after dispensing. Since I washed and dried and then only used it to transport distilled water, I should not have gotten transfer of whatever molecules from the bag leak into the water.I also did the pinch test, although this isn't validated scientifically, but for those who do the pinch test to see if it turns white, it DOES.I bought 7 other different brands and types of silicone containers and some also didn't "pass" the pinch test and had an odor associated with water storage. The ones that did "pass" the pinch test, only 2, did not have an odor transferred to the water. I will be using those despite the fact that they do not seal as well as the stasher bags. Read more

Mine were no longer white or clear after the first wash. I don't know why all of them are stained now. The only thing I keep in them are frozen beef, ground beef, and chicken, all raw. I wrap them in paper before placing the meat in these bags. I would not wash these in the dishwasher because they will end up being greasy or having a film on them. I rinse them in the dishwasher on hot water and then I handwash them. It defeats the purpose of having these bags. I might as well just keep my meats and items in plastic containers which DO easily wash in the dishwasher.Recommend only a few DARK colored bags for a busy family. Use reusable microwavable containers instead that wash effortlessly in the dishwasher, unlike these sorry excuse of reusable containers! Read more

I really wanted to love this...but fear it's going to be a one-use-then-gone container. The package claims you can store "soups + sauces" in it, paired with a photo of what appears to be pasta sauce. The first time I used this Stasher was to store leftover lasagna soup in the fridge. Had nothing but problems:(a) Getting soup into the bag took two people--one to hold the top open, and another to slowly ladle, one ladle at a time--since the top won't remain open unless manually held in that position;(b) the next morning, my entire refrigerator smelled like garlic, proving the material used does *not* contain food smells from within;(c) the bag stained, badly (see photos). I've soaked it overnight with Dawn dishwashing liquid, tried washing it by hand, repeatedly, but still--permanently stained; and(d) it *still* smells like garlic. Two days later.Unless the smell dissipates, this is headed to the trash. Anything I put inside will reek when it comes out. So, so disappointed. Read more

I really love these for storing food. The quality is excellent, thick and well built. I have use it to marinate salmon and store in freezer until I'm ready to cook it. I put it straight into sou vide from the freezer and it works OK. I simply can't get the air out, there's always a big bubble on the top no matter how much I try. I took a star off for this reason.The square bottom makes it easy to stand up. I wash these on the bottom rack of the dishwasher and it washes really well. I've tried a few reusable bags in the past and washed my fair share of ziplocks. This one takes the cake. I can see sets of these being gifted to folks moving into their first apartments along with pots and pans and having them last a lifetime, maybe even being passed down to kids. I've put mine through all sorts of things, including things that I expected to stain it or stretch it out and it still looks great. My partner has another size and style of Stasher bag that they've had for years and that one looks great also. It's an absolute joy to clean compared to a ziplock. Like many people, I've been trying to get rid of single-use plastic in my house. While I will admit the Stasher bags take a minute to get used to, once you do you'll never go back. I find that these are not great for liquids such as sauces and soups, as it can be difficult to get the liquid out of the seams and I don't know I would 100% trust the seal. For liquids I opt to use containers instead. This wide bottom version is perfect to freeze meat, veggis, thicker stews, cookie dough and bread. In the fridge I've put sliced fruit, prepped veggis, cubed chicken, etc. I've also used it in my beach bag to house lotions and on vacation to keep my shampoo, conditioners, etc. This is a versatile size. Overall, these bags are worth the price, even if they are a bit time consuming to clean. We use them to store bulk meat we buy from the grocery store - they sit in our freezer for a week or two until we get around to using it. I love that they sit upright!I'm not sure why so many people have had issues with it leaking or breaking because I've owned mine for about a year and haven't had any issues, but I'm also careful to not overfill them and to release extra air before sealing, so that might help.To clean, we turn them inside out to wash by hand and then run them through the dishwasher cycle (not taking any chances with raw meat bacteria!). Only downside there is that it's very difficult to get into the creases of the sealer up top. I wouldn't recommend storing pasta sauce or anything that could get in there and leave a permanent stain. These are amazing! Expensive, but they rock. Bought 4 different sizes. As im am freezing more foods during this pandemic. They seal very well and do not leak. The only thing which im sure is part of the design is the opening is smaller than the width of the bag. This allows for food to hide in the corners a bit but they a dishwasher safe which is another plus. I felt like Im helping the planet and thought I could give up plastic ziplock bags all together, but realistically I would have to buy a lot more than 4 of these and that would get very expensive. My much esteemed and super-significant other half has many talent, just not in the kitchen. Therefore I do most of the cooking. However I have limited time between writing Amazon reviews so I tend to make a larger quantities during the weekend that she can then heat up on two evenings during the week - this gets us coved for 4 diners per week. However for this you need good storage options to keep you meals fresh. We have a range of sealable boxes and bags but decided to step up and buy one of these very expensive silicone Stasher bags, even though I was quite sceptical about its merits. However I must say I’m quite pleased with them, they are easy to clean, seal well. It seals and given that it has a solid rubbery shape it doesn’t take up a large rectangular space in our structurally over-full fridge.We were also looking for better food storage options, for example because we tend to keep a bag of spinach leaves permanently in the fridge as an hidden ingredient for our frequent red berry smoothies - the problem we found is that spinach leaves tend to go off and start to smell on the sides of the bag soon after opening. Well, this silicone bag somehow prevents that and now we are able to keep and use the spinach leaves well beyond the expiry date. The Stasher bag is also great for left over storage.The only drawback I would point to is that when you decide to store vegetables or fruit in it and get rid of the original packaging, you will lose the expiry date and I am not sure I should write on the expensive bag with wipeable marker.So overall we are very pleased, and are now investing to build out or range of Stasher bags. I have several Stasher bags of difference sizes and love them all. Their best feature is that the seal is water tight so you can do marinades and slosh the contents around without leaks. Much better than the ones that require a separate sleeve to push over the opening, it makes an imperfect seal that leaks. Read more
