I put this perm in my hair, which i thought was fine bc i have used it b4 but this time it took me forever to wash it out...i couldn't get it out after several washes i had to take some of my suave shampoo and use it just to get it out...i believe the product itself was old...so that's why i say never again...will i buy something bc of a cheap price it is not worth it... Fantastic for the low price, but japanese straightening would have been 10 times better. I couldn't wait until after the pandemic .. so my hair didnt get burned, and its a lot more manegeable and more straight than before ( i had a curly frizzy mess) so i am grateful and happier every morning, BUT it is not perfect hot iron straight, and shiny which you get with japanese straightening.Sure it costs around 400-500 but i also found out after i did this at home that they sell japanese straightening do it yourself kits that you can do at home for much less. Shiseido or Nigao or kinujo or cure one step are all good and are under $50 on amazon. Next time. Read more

I had not used this version before. The relaxer smelled good for perm and the conditioners smelled really good too. It reminded me a little of being at the salon and higher end products. The only con is that this version has a step that I couldn't get down with. I am no professional but have been getting relaxers for multiple decades now. About 5 years ago I started doing them at home. This box has a step in between rinsing out the perm and using the neutralizing shampoo. After I rinse the perm out with water, I am to apply this "FIBER STRENGTH POST TREATMENT" stuff and leave it on for 10 mins. 10 whole minutes after rinsing out the chemical and 10 whole minutes before confirming with neutralizing shampoo that all traces are gone. If I missed a spot while rinsing out the perm with water, then I am sitting there with the chemicals still processing AND the post treatment in my hair. To me, the best part of the neutralizing wash is seeing the pink spots and knowing if you have to wash extra thoroughly in that spot. I guess it could be a different experience if someone is there who is capable of eyeballing your scalp and confirming the water washed it all out.After two minutes I couldn't sit there not knowing if I was successful in removing 100% of the perm (turns out I was not). I personally NEED the neutralizing shampoo to run pink-less and confirm that for me. I didn't have extra mirrors to see in the back of my head this time, and even still would've probably relied on that pink-less white foam for confirmation. I couldn't make it ten minutes. The instructions specifically state that you are NOT to apply the post treatment (step 3) after you use the rebalancing neutralizing shampoo (step 4). I still love this stuff though. This will be my new budget friendly go to. For me to practically skip step 3 and completely skip step 6 (the leave-in cream) my hair was still noticeably soft. I was so excited to use this product and saw many good reviews but it just didn’t work the same for me. I followed the instructions well and carefully but I noticed my hair felt soft and tangly that it was unhealthy.
