I originally bought these hair pins for my youngest, who dances at a studio that requires full-on ballet buns every day of class. She, however hated them, so they were handed off to me.These are perfectly serviceable hair pins, but in my daughter's opinion, they aren't as useful as others we've gotten in the past from Sally Beauty. The coating is very similar to the basic bobby pins you'll find anywhere, and my daughter says they make them more slippery in her estimation. I find I use several more of them on my hair than when I use some of her pins, but that may be because they are smaller, and not because they lack the rougher hatched coating she prefers. There are a LOT of them in this box, so even if you seem to go through hair pins like tissues, it should last you a long time. Read more

Wow, an entire pound (literally) of great hair pins! I had been searching all over for this quality, color, and size of hair pins. I wear my hair in two criss cross braids across the top of my head, and I use 4 hair pins daily. These hair pins hold my braids in place all day and through the night - securely and gently without ANY pain. The size and color of the hair pins are fantastic. Although I have an entire pound of hair pins, after over three weeks, I'm still using the same 4 pins - still in great shape. It's like having a cute little purple box of treasures. Read more

I have pretty thick, straight, shoulder length hair and unfortunately could never understand how people could keep their hair up with bobby pins. I'd have to curl my hair, put a ton of product in it, and even then still have to use handfuls of bobby pins and half the time would make a mess of being able to properly anchor the pins. With these I can get a pretty sturdy bun in my hair with just a couple pins - no having to put them diagonally on each other to anchor.I will say that these are not as good in terms of getting stray wisps out of the way since they have a looser opening, but these have seriously been amazing for me to move away from just doing a simple ponytail! The black stuff comes off in my hair. I love the size and length of these hair pins. The ball on the tips are a must (those fall off too). Most of the hair pins in the box are not coated and missing the ball. Read more

Works really well, and you get a whole lot of pins. My hair is thick, straight and hard to hold, but these do the trick EVERY time. But I've had them for about a month or 2 now and have noticed that the black enamel of the pins are coming off like peeling paint. I guess this isn't a problem since I have hundreds more of them in the box to replace them with. But I'd rather not have to. Still, I'd purchase them again. Read more

The coating on these bobby pins flakes completely off after more than a few uses. It begins within the first use. I was using these pins on a regular basis and kept them on my vanity. I was getting black flakes on my decollete, face, clothing and other beauty products on my vanity area including my contact station. The product is definitely dysfunctional and, depending on the coating product used and the exposed pin composition, possibly a health and safety issue. I will not be using this product any longer- what a waste. I would return for refund but the package broke open during shipping. There were bobby pins everywhere in the box and on my porch where delivered- and probably dozens in the shipping van. This is the most I've ever been dissatisfied with a product I purchased on Amazon. Read more

I have tried numerous brands of hair pins for my daughters ballet buns. She is a competitive dancer and her bun needs to stay in place when she dances. These hair pins get the job done without ripping or pulling he hair. They are by far the best brand out there. I recommend them to all of the other moms at our dance studio. Great buy! Read more

These work great for anyone with thick hair or layers too. I have lots of hair but they're pretty thin so I have to do extra step to tease it. When I put it up in a bun, my layers will soon fall out unless I hairspray it. And even hairspray doesn't last long and that's when these pins come in handy. They stay all all day Read more
