I have a 10 yr old daughter who has been a competative dancer for several years. I bought the 1 pound box over a year ago. At competition(s) she has to have her hair in a performance bun from 3 to 5 days in a row; every morning we are up early to prepare and put hair up. These are AMAZING!! So much better than bobby pins. Not only is her hair easy to put up, we get it up-start to finish-in under 10 minutes, but her hair stays up! She needs minimal touchups and only 1 hair elastic is needed! Its her hair in an elastic, bun form, pin the hair in place, hairnet pinned in place.....and it lasts all day long....through hours/days of dance and multiple costume changes! These are the best pins! Good, heavier weight metal....just a fantasic product!! I cannot say enough good things about these pins!! Read more
When ordering, I noticed some reviews mentioned the smell of these pins. I didn't notice it right away when I opened the box, but I have a habit of holding my pins in my mouth while I work on my hair. YUCK. These pins had a stinky oil on them. It was like spraying WD-40 in my mouth (using my imagination a bit here). I soaked them in hot dishwater, rinsed them, and gave them a quick bleach bath. I am now very pleased with the pins, but I suggest other buyers clean them first as well. They stay in my thick, curly hair well, but I don't think they would be great in more fine hair. Read more
I’ve never been able to master using bobby-pins, but after watching a video of JVN extolling the virtues of hairpins I decided to give these a try. Suddenly, I’m a master hairstylist, able to create and wear updos that stay in place all day. Wish I’d discovered the difference between bobby-pins and hairpins years ago! These are fantastic, though honestly I probably only needed a dozen, not 200 Read more
Quality hairpins are hard to find in stores anymore. These are used for my granddaughter who dances and needs her hair up for class and competitions. She has medium thick, long hair and these pins hold nicely. They are quite strong (thicker than any I've purchased in a store). My daughters danced for years and I never found any like these. They're still flexible enough if need be and will likely last her whole dancing career. The box is small but there are a lot of pins in there. There's plenty to keep at her house, my house and her dance bag. This is a terrific find. The bronze color blends beautifully with her brown hair. Read more
These have a horrible chemical smell that I can't seem to wash off. It's like a strong metal polish or something, and no amount of soaking or scrubbing seems to be able to get rid of it. Read more
This is the 3rd box I've bought over the years and the ball point part on this box is substantially less than the previous two boxes. There was always a random pin or two that had the ball point part missing or fell off within the first use or two, but that was the exception rather than the rule. This box the coating is so minimal that I question if there is any coating on at all on many of the pins. This is especially nerve wracking for those of us that have experienced the joy of jabbing the head of a tween with an uncoated pin. Read more
These hair pins are of superior quality compared to most available at local drugstores. They are stiff enough to not bend when inserted yet they can be easily spread open as needed. I also appreciate the comfortable rounded end cap.The bronze color is quite dark and will work better in my opinion on medium to darker hair.I find the 2 inch length most versatile as 1" is nearly always too short for regular buns and 3" jumbo pins tend to show.I have no idea how many are in this one pound-package but definitely a lot for the price.Unfortunately, the packaging is very poor: it's a simple light cardboard box that came already quite busted (though it appeared wrapped appropriately). Not only the pins cannot be stored in the box but they are also a bit hard to remove and untangle from there.Overall, a good value for the price here. I will find a better storage box and most probably buy again, if I ever go through this huge amount of pins. Read more
Sadly these pins are not as pictured. The box I got is full of almost-flat pins. I have an old pin that I love and compared to the image and they are a perfect match. The ones that arrived hardly have crimps, many of them nearly flat on one or both sides. They aren't as flimsy as the ones you can purchase locally, but they are not crimped as pictured. In this picture the two on the left are the image supplied by the seller. On the right is an actual pin from the box I received. Read more
