I like the bigger bottle because I usually did multiple smaller bottles. Some reviewers dislike that it is difficult to pick up without squirting it because the bottle is made of thin plastic... but that's fine with me. I just pick it up carefully, and/or put my finger over the hole as I pick it up. Some complain that you can't empty the bottle completely due to the "straw" not going all the way to the bottom, but again, that doesn't bother me. Petty little problems, in my opinion, and I'm just grateful for a nice, big bottle so I don't have to fill a smaller one multiple times! Works great for me and I highly recommend it! Read more
I almost didn't buy this because of the negative reviews: "the plastic is too thin" "the sides don't pop back out immediately" "the tube is too short". It seems there's always someone who will whine and complain about every last little thing. Pay no attention to the whiners and complainers, these bottles are a serious help if you're battling a serious sinus infection. Gee, it takes an extra 1.5 seconds to refill with air? Well, BFD. I can put up with that, in exchange for getting a double dose of baby shampoo, then a double dose of iodine (in the povidone form). Oh, and if you're using iodine or hydrogen peroxide, there's no need to replace the bottle every three months, because it's getting sterilized every day. Read more
Neti Pots are a pain the the schnozola. But, these extra large Sinus Rinse Bottles from NeilMed are the best! Here's the deal: The standard 8oz bottle is fine for normal noses. But when you're lookin' to decimate Colds and Sinus Infections, Post Nasal Drip, Runny Nose, Dry Nose (you Boulder Coloradoites), this is what you need to rock your nose.I use NeilMed's saline packets (look, they're affordable and easy to use).I add 4 Potassium Iodide Drops to my sinus rinse. And a gram of Now Xylitol Powder to the mix.Use Distilled water! Or at least really well filtered water.NOT TAP WATER!Warm the water to lukewarm. But DON'T nuke the bottle with the top on!I've melted more than one by not watching my time.Add the ingredients, heat to lukewarm, and then do this:Run the water through both nostrils. Then, for one cycle, sniff while you're doing it.This assures you not only get each nostril cleaned out.But you've also dislodged the viruses that typically hang at the end of the nasal cavity and back of the throat. The combination of Xylitol and Potassium Iodide (iodine) is guaranteed to kill anything that wants to make you late for work.Trust me, this is your jam. Performing like a rock star is critical .Keeping your sinuses at peak performance is a key element of that process. The nose is a great place to start. And this sinus rinse bottle is a truly epic part of your war chest. Excellent. I like to rinse a lot, so I was filling up my standard size 8 ounce bottle twice, once for each nostril. This extra large 16 ounce bottle allows me to do it in one go. You get more nasal rinsing out of a session, and it comes with 5 "double size" saline packets, or you can just use 2 of the standard size ones with this bottle. Makes it easier to breath, stuffy nose has gone away, and has basically eliminated my sinus headaches. I highly recommend using this product, once you do it for the first time, you will want to every day. Read more
You know the 8 oz bottle that you get with the NeilMed kit at Wal-mart or the drugstore? This bottle is twice that size!Your budget for powder and distilled water will, of course, double. Distilled water is cheap, of course. And after my packets run out, I use sea salt with no anticaking additives and that works just fine. Many a time have I pondered repeating with another 8 oz cup of saline solution. When I saw the bigger bottle on amazon I was tickled pink.Free the nostrils! Read more
While it's nice being able to prepare an larger amount of solution, the material of this bottle is flimsier than the 8 oz bottle and thus when you squeeze it, the sides stay collapsed and you have to "coax" them back out before being able to squeeze again. Plus, you can not exert as much pressure. Another problem is that the tube stops about 3/4 inch above the bottom of the bottle, so a lot of solution is wasted, which kind of defeats the purpose of buying a larger bottle. In my 8 oz bottle, the tube is long enough to curve to the corner of the bottle, so you can tip it and get every last drop. Lastly, it is a pain to clean. I use dish soap and hot water to clean it, and with the tiny opening it takes forever to rinse clean. Read more
Great for a good flush. You can squeeze until all almost water is gone. As for the bad reviews- yes, if you press water out of a bottle, it will collapse and you have to let air in, or it will stay collapsed, duh. And if you are concerned about wasting a few ml of water, then get the smaller one. Read more
Love the size. I have severe rhinitis. The only thing that could have made this better is if it was 1-2 liters in size. But at least this helps cut back on the filling constantly. As far as the integrity of the bottle, it's softer and not as stiff as an 8 oz. If you are not careful, some will shoot up if you grab it the wrong way. But after some adjustment time, it's no big deal. I'll take that any day over constant refilling. Read more
