These are great for securing bread/bagel bags as well as frozen vegetable bags. They bind them securely. Upon first use the little holes that the "string" loops through is a little tight by the loosen a little to make them more managable. Read more
These are a cool invention and a nice alternative to other ties. I often have little household engineering projects and I need a way to hold things, but whatever I use might have to be heat-resistant and flexible, say, so I can't use Velcro strapping or zip ties. These are a great tool to have on hand along with other ties because they fill that niche. For me these are a little too fussy to use with bread that I'll open every day, but they're great for bags of rice and things like that, that I might only open once a week or less. I do wish the tail tapered a little more slowly. The way it is now, the tail gets too big to fit through the head before the end of the tail pokes out, so you have to push it really hard to make it come out the other side so you can grab it. It's too much effort for a product like this. If the tail were thinner at the end you could poke it all the way through without resistance, so it would stick out a half inch or so, then you could easily pull the tail through instead of forcing it from the other side. I also wish the head had a pull tab or loop so you could tighten and loosen the tie more easily. It's not easy to hold. But those two things aren't really big problems if you use these for things you either don't need to tighten way down or don't need to open often. I wouldn't rely on just these ties but again they're a good addition if you already have Velcro straps. Also I just have to point out that the look of these would probably not be considered "school appropriate" by any kid in fourth grade or higher. I really love these fasteners, and I highly recommend them.I have owned this type of tie fastener in the past, but it was always made of hard plastic. Such ties are not reusable. Once I used them, I had no choice but to laboriously cut them off if I needed to remove them. That is not the case with these silicone ties.I tested them by fasting and unfastening them multiple times. Because the silicone makes them quite flexible, it only takes a little bit of effort to insert the tail end of a tie through the hole at its tip and pull the tail through the hole until I achieve a tight fit around the object I am securing. What keeps the tie fastened are raised ridges along the length of the tie. What allows it to be unfastened is the same process. The act of stretching one of these silicone ties thins out the diameter of its tail sufficiently to allow it to easily be pulled back through the hole at its tip. This ease of fastening and unfastening these ties means that I can use them as a sturdy, reusable substitute for single-use, paper-covered, wire twist ties where such ties are simply too small and weak.In addition, these ties come in multiple bright, attractive colors, which allows them to be used for color-coding purposes. These are actually pretty handy ties. I love that I can keep using them. Are they as secure as a traditional 1-use zip tie? Not quite, but they're good enough and hold pretty well. These work great to hang things from my kids wire shelving. My son is always hanging various items on his wire shelving. He has used regular zip ties, but then they have to be cut when he wants to move/use the item. Now he has his 2 small camping lanterns hanging with these silicone ties. He also has some spare ties hanging, so that hat he can hang other things too. These work well to hold cable/wire bundles. It's nice, beause if I need to add/remove a wire, I only have to pull the tie open and then reclose it.The ties are easy to use. I did not experience any trouble pulling it open or closing them. They are a bit easy to open, so make sure they are tightened as much as possible when in use.Overall these are definitely handy. I don't have to keep wasting regular zip ties on non-permanent items. Plus the colors are pretty cool looking too. Read more
These work well enough if you are using them on something that you don't need to open again. For example they are great for securing cords together but not good for closing bread bags. It takes way too much effort to close them far enough to get a tight seal and then twice as much effort again to reopen them. It also leaves a huge annoying "tail" on anything small you are closing or binding together.Bottom line: yes they work. I could recommend them for some uses (like tying 2-3 cords together) but as far as closing bags or bundling food like asparagus as pictured. Not at all. They are much too difficult to open and close for the bag issue and too small for the food. Read more
I’ve been meaning to organize my stash of cords forever, but I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on twist ties. This pack of 24 Simplifi It Silicone Rubber Twist Ties seems like a good deal for ten bucks. The ties are about the length of a mass market paperback. I’ve tried yanking pretty hard on one but it didn’t break. They’re perfect for grouping up a bunch of similar cords for my use, but obviously there’s a ton of different uses for them.I do wish the end of the tie was firm, to make it easier to thread it through the hole. It’s not hard but does take a little effort. So I wouldn’t use these ties if I had to constantly fasten and unfasten them, but for something I’m going to leave secured for a few hours or longer, they’re great. Read more
Smaller than they look on the Amazon site, but very useful for cords. Can hook together too.Photo with soda can for scale and with quarter for max size of circle unstretched. At largest unstretched setting makes a circle of a diameter of about 2 inches. They will stretch a bit, but then they will not hold at the lowest setting where the diameter of the “tail” is smaller. These are great for smaller cords and the color coding is helpful. It is fairly easy to take them back off.I ran a couple through the dishwasher and they had no issues. I did this because I used them to keep some tamales together when steaming, in this case I used two for each tamale by linking them together. Worked well. Read more
