I have used Avon eye makeup remover for 20+ years without any problems. I have tried a few different brands out of necessity and have experienced burning, itching and redness with some. Rather than an oil, this has a creamy, soft and dense consistency and it does act as an eye moisturizerMy method of using is to wet a cotton ball, place a small amount of remover on it and wipe away the eye makeup. I also wet my entire face before doing this and then finish with my face cleanser. This ensures all the makeup and any residue is gone, leaving nothing but a clean face. Personally, I would never use anything dry such as a tissue to remove makeup, too much like a scratchy sponge. I have been using this for as long as I can remember. I have tried others but this is a creamy substance, non allergenic and easily removed with cotton ball. It's non-irritating. The last couple of times I tried to buy it, I had difficulty in it being in stock, so I thought I'd try a few other products. This Avon Moisture Effective Eye Makeup Remover works well. I bought this based on great reviews. I only look at items that have 4 or 5 stars so I went ahead and ordered this eye makeup remover. I wanted something gentle for my eyelashes, since I felt I was losing 1 too many. It has a nice thick, creamy consistency, and is easy to apply. What sucks about it is: 1) it requires plenty of rinsing off and then wiping off with a towel or wippies. And 2) it does NOT remove all of the mascara on 1 attempt! I have to use it at least twice to remove all of my mascara, waterproof or not. To me, it defeats the purpose of having to use it more than once to remove mascara. That's all i intended to use it for. It also gets into my eyes when I apply it thoroughly.I would pass up on this makeup remover. It gets 2 stars because it does moisturize the eye area. Read more

I have been using this for years and it is my favorite. When I have run out, I have tried other brands and they don't compare. This moisturizes while it removes eye make up but isn't heavy. I get eczema on my eyelids and have to be careful with makeup removers that dry you out. I have used this several times and have found that it leaves a residue on your eye. Its a soft residue and my skin seems to absorb it after a while and it leaves my eye lids soft. And it doesnt irritate my eczema an is helping it go away. I will continue to use. Does a good job of removing waterproof mascara. I apply it to my lashes and let it set for a few seconds then remove with a tissue. For heavier amounts of mascara you may need to repeat.
