My granddaughter likes chewing on this but now has learned how to put it on over her head. That’s the problem. Since these are silicone, her hair gets stuck between the beads when she takes it off and she cries. I tried to wrap the back of necklace with plastic wrap so she can still put it on. I've gotten a number of sensory chew necklaces for kids with autism. Usually, they just consist of a thick cord with a chewable pendant of some sort.This necklace is unusual. The entire thing is chewable. I will say that if it breaks, you will instantly have a choke hazard on your hands, but it does look fairly sturdy.There is no way around the “hair getting caught in the beads” phenomenon. You can't extend the necklace. All you can do is put hair in a ponytail or braids to move it out of the way. That is a design flaw which could have easily been corrected by leaving a few inches of bead-free cord on either end of the breakaway clasp.Other than that one important issue, it's cute, durable, and functional.
