I gave this a four out of five stars for one particular reason. My son is one year old. He weighs about 22 pounds. My concern with the swing is when he’s sitting on the pillow that is given, that’s removable for the swing, he leans forward sometimes, and if he leans too far forward while swinging in it he can fall out of the swing itself. Because the weight of him pushing himself forward while it’s swinging causes the swing to flip. This isn’t one of those “leave the kid in there to do dishes” kind of swings. You really have to WATCH the kid at ALL times. I bought heavy duty boots to hang it above my kitchens railing, and where as it’s a very very nice, well made swing the concept of it is scary to me.. my son likes to swim, he’s just a baby that has to constantly be doing something. So when I saw this I had to get it, but he did have an incident where he almost fell out of it just because he was holding onto the front and his legs were coming forward all the way through the holes and that caused him to lean forward just enough that he almost fell out. So I would HIGHLY recommend never leaving a kid in this alone. It was also a struggle for me to hang this evenly. It seeks no matter how i tied the strings something was always uneven just a little on one side or another. Very frustrating Read more
This swing is geared towards a baby from six months up to three years. The thing is, the swing seat is huge - it easily fits my nearly five year old granddaughter - and there is no safety strap or harness in it!I put it together today. The thought was that I would use it for my infant granddaughter and allow the nearly five year old to push her. After putting it together, there’s no way I would put the wiggly baby in it. She’s too young to take instructions such as not to try to climb out, or not to lean forward, etc. I feel like this would be an accident waiting to happen! After putting this together, I looked at other baby swings on Amazon. Most of them include safety straps, including one that looks identical to this.Another issue I had with this swing is that the instruction sheet is small, and the actual instructions are so tiny, I couldn’t clearly see them. As a result, I set it up the wrong way (the front and back bar are supposed to both be under the side bars. I had to take the ropes out and redo it.Speaking of the ropes, the rope that is included with this swing is a slippery nylon - NOT the type of rope that is recommended for swings, as knots don’t tend to stay tied in them. Since the knots are placed under the bars, you may not notice that they are unraveling until it’s too late.Bottom line: I could add my own seatbelt, or maybe even a harness, and perhaps I could replace the ropes, but I feel like that’s a lot of trouble for a baby swing. I will probably just replace this with something more appropriate for an infant. I would not be recommending this swing. Read more
This is a nice classic design for a kid's swing - I had a similar one done in macramé when my daughter was a baby, but the wooden dowels which form the frame are much heavier than that original swing. The wooden dowel supports are heavy, and nicely finished, and the whole swing goes together quite handily. The pair of cushions for the inside are a nice touch. My only concern is that the unit will be supported at the bottom by double knots in the nylon rope, and the rope itself is so stiff that I would worry about the knots coming undone. Perhaps a little heat applied, after assembly, to slightly melt the knots into a tight unit? Read more
I got this one for my son as he has special needs and in therapy they use one to work miracles. I liked this one a lot but I couldn’t really give it a 5 stars rating because I worry he might tip it over and fall. I ended up buying a safety strap which reduced some of my concerns. Also, and I cannot stress this enough, I would not leave him unattended in the swing.I still recommend it but I use it with a safety strap and I recommend others doing the same. Read more
