My home already had a bunch of Safety 1st Slide Lock, so I purchased these newer models, thinking they would be the same, if not better. I was disappointed to discover that they are slightly worse for my needs.You see, the slide lock is about an inch shorter than the older models. I am unable to "click" lock securely in place on over half of the shelf doors that I have. The longer bar is the same length, but the shorter bar is too short by at least 1". What the heck. I like that the unit stays in one piece, we also have another similar type of lock on some of our other cabinets and I don not like how the other ones come apart into two pieces, it's a hand full. This product is much better and I recommend it. This is a good-quality lock and hasn't broken after almost a year. It's kind of a pain to take on and off, but that's the idea. My son was never interested in pressing the button, but he can't figure out how to take it off, so it serves its purpose. I use these on our pantry and bathroom closet which have double doors. Keeps our toddler out and easy to use! Love this baby lock- we have a baby genius on our hands and he hasn’t figured it out yet along with his older siblings. Better than most similar locks but depending on your cupboards the doors can still open slightly and little fingers can be caught in the gap. Unfortunately with baby proofing you kind of have to make do with what there is and there are rarely any perfect solutions. Read more
