I got these to both child proof and got the added cat proofing our house! Our cat would open the doors and slip in and more than once we've been awake in the night thinking we've got buglers in the house! I had an extra lock and I hung it on a cupboard door handle (not locked to anything just hanging on the handle) the cat seems to think that she can't get into that cupboard either.
