The gate looks nice, was the right size and we could walk through. Flaws were immediately obvious. The wood was thinner than expected making it lightweight and the dog could slide it with a single paw. The gate never locked and swung freely, but I wrapped a bottom support with brown vet wrap and that created some friction to keep the door from swinging. I thought of sending it back because it was so flimsy, but I kept it because wanted it to block a french door in my office to protect the door frame from paws trying to catch the leaf blower yard guys when they surprised us. I didn't need it to contain the dog. Today I barely bumped the gate coming through the doorway and the entire leg broke off (the wood split). In retrospect I should have sent it back once I saw how poorly it was made. Buy something else. Read more

My vet suggested getting a gate like this for the front door so I can open it without a rush of three 4-footers trying to follow me outside. It makes such a difference to not have to worry about somebody bolting outside -- plus the 3 of them no longer bunch up together, reducing the chance of a doggy altercation. It took just a few minutes to assemble and is sturdy. The gate easily opens and securely closes (with just a slight shove - opens both directions). I've received several compliments on it and the color coordinates really well with my furniture. If/when you get this gate, be sure to use a level to make sure the gate portion is straight vertically. That's the trick to make sure the latch engages and the gate opens and closes properly. I wasn't really expecting this to do as well as it did. It was well packaged and worked easily. I did take advantage of some of the fine tuning to get the door to fit just right and it did great. I tried a friction fit gate in the past and the dog just pushed it right down. I ended up drilling the anchors into the doorway and it did fine but this time one side is custom cabinets and I did not want to drill anything into them. I honestly didn't think that this gate would hold up to a 20# puppy that wanted out. I am so pleased at how sturdy it was and how well it held still. The hinge on one side was pretty finicky and would sometimes not lock but if you just played with it a little you could get it to hold. I would definitely buy this again. Read more

Update: Not even the end of February and it already fell apart. Please don’t waste your money!**********************Very pretty. Perfect for our space at bottom of stairs. Does not hold up for daily use - I really wanted to love this gorgeous gate :( Looks beautiful, just don’t use it because the joints and connectors are intricate and fragile. Not worth the money. Not worth the money. Yes it looks nice, but for the price I expected something much sturdier. The cats jump over it and in about a month the gate fell apart. Poor construction. Very Poor Construction. Have a smaller one that is also falling apart. I am very unhappy with how much was spent on these only to find they are worthless. Read more

not listed in the product info, but clearly labeled on the box - this gate cannot be used near a glass door. I ended up buying some closetmaid wire shelving and putting it together with zip ties to make a gate to keep my cat from escaping. Read more

This is the exact thing we needed to keep our dogs from charging the front door when someone comes. It has helped to train them to remain calm. It stretches the entire width of our foyer. Perfect! Read more
