I realize the calculated risks in buying cosmetics online. But I thought people should know. I don’t think anyone would consider this in the plum color family. There is no purple plummy tone at all, just a sad, ugly dried leaf yellow-brown color that is most unflattering to cool skin tones (the type that would look for a plum lipstick). There were no issues with the lipstick other than the color. I put it on my face and looked in the mirror and was shocked at what I saw. My lips looked that purplish-blue color that you would expect to see on a corpse. There is no way I could wear that lipstick. It made me look like I was dying or something. Only buy this if you need it for Halloween or something. Its color is not true to how it appears in the advertising photo. It also does not go on thick enough to achieve a purple color. Read more

I bought the shade Raisin Rage--it's incredible, and I LOVE it.It's a deep burgundy brown shade on the stick, but with a light touch can go on as a sheer cinnamon rose tint; with a stronger application, as beautiful earthy rose; and with a heavy hand, the shade you see on the stick is what's on your lips--great for a gorgeous, bold lip; perfect for nio noir, goth, and steampunk. It's got a faint, muted satin finish that dries down to *nearly* matte, and starts off moisturizing, but can be drying after several hours without reapplication.It's remarkably long-lived for an ordinary lipstick. I slept in it, and it still looked fresh the next morning. No smearing or transference while I slept.There IS some transference when eating or drinking, so reapplication will be needed after meals. However, it's a remarkable, buildable coverage shade that looks gorgeous, can suit a range of looks from natural to dramatic, it's moisturizing (for a while), and has great durability. I love it. I’m happy to find a shade (teak rose) that looks like my natural lips, but better! I put it on in the morning, and when it’s time to remove my makeup late afternoon, it’s still there. I am moderately conscious of not wiping or licking my lips throughout the day, but nothing extreme.I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t quite as moisturizing as the “pearl” version (different shade) I’ve purchased in the past, but it’s not drying. I wish there was a teak rose in pearl as well as this cream.I have a vague memory of reading somewhere that your best shade is the inside of your lip, and this is definitely mine. Read more

I got the Raisin color and it was a lot darker than I expected - I think the virtual try on was a little inaccurate - but I found just lightly dabbing it on gives me a more mild color that I like!It seems fairly matte, but it’s also really dry so I have been dabbing on a little and then using a moisturizing tinted balm on top of it and that is fine. While it does rub off fairly easily, I noticed that it doesn’t seem to come off too much while eating or drinking. So as long as you’re not actively rubbing things or people on your lips, it holds up pretty well.I felt like it was a reasonable purchase for the price, especially because right now I’m just experimenting with colors and don’t care so much about it being the perfect lipstick. I’ve been using Revlon products for years and they never disappoint. This lipstick is smooth with bold color and good moisturization. It has no smell or weird taste and doesn’t dry out my lips. The Raisin Rage color is my go-to shade when I’m wearing a rather neutral palette — I don’t like a nude/pale lip and this gives me just enough color “pop”. It is a brownish lipstick with a hint of red. I also enjoy the Revlon Colorstay products. Great product for an inexpensive price! Highly recommended! Read more

I only wish they hadn't removed that "Revlon taste" and lipstick smell from their sticks. I swear if L'Oreal removes the violet/powder scent from their lipsticks, I am done with drugstore brands. But, I digress. Revlon makes a pretty decent, long-wearing lipstick for the money. I like how the reds never change color over the course of hours of eating, drinking, talking, kissing (ahem), well you get the picture... My fave shade for years has been "wine with everything" but coming in close is "pink in the after-noon." The product clings to the lips but does not dry out, will not smear off - even in the middle of pandemic pandamonium the red will barely blot onto the mask. Although at the moment with wearing masks lipstick isn't an essential in make up, it just puts a smile on your face first thing in the morning. I think the Revlon lipstick feels nice when applied, there were plenty of colours to chose from and it was a very good price. Read more
