Due to a thyroid problem and thinning hair, I've been wearing wigs for about 15 years. I have always bought these clips to keep what hair I have up so I can wear my wigs easily. The last few years, I've noticed a problem with the rivet at the tip grabbing my hair and not letting go, but it was only a couple of clips, so I just tossed the ones that were defective. I ordered 2 packages of these clips recently, and half of them so have this problem. The rivet at the point catches my hair and pulls the hair out. I can not get the hair out of the rivet. I just pulled a good sized hank out that was caught in one of the clips. I have 6 of these clips ready to toss in the trash just from today alone. I'm sorry to say I can not recommend this product.Update: had another one rip hair out of my head, took a photo of all them this morning before tossing them. Terrible design. At the tapered end of the barrette is a small circle where the end of the barrette comes together. My hair would get caught in that area and when I would go to take it out of my hair it would end up pulling and breaking several pieces of hair. They held my hair in place tightly, so I'm disappointed that they broke strands of hair. These are nice clips and function well in my fine hair. Only problem (and not restricted to just these Revlon clips) is that the paint peels off after very little use. After several uses, the paint seems to soften and become dull, and then will start peeling off at any point where there is pressure / friction. Very disappointing, but, as I said, almost any hair clip I have used (Goody and other brands) have this same problem, and not just with black paint. Surely there must be some manufacturer that has mastered the manufacture of these products. But I have yet to discover them. Read more

I have thin hair that is soft and hard to hold back in a clip or barrette. The Revlon Double Grip Clix holds hair really well, are easy to use, and stay in place all day. I have been using these for years. They have been getting hard to find lately, so I was extremely happy to have found them on Amazon. My only complaint, and it is a mild one, is that the finish can wear off over time (a few months), or peel off. These clips are exactly the same design as the ones by Vidal Sassoon, as far as I can tell. Both make great hair clips! The double grip makes a huge difference. These clips work really well in the beginning but fall apart very quickly. They're coated in a fragile substance that peels and flakes off constantly. I'm tired of having big black specks fall out of my hair and finding curls of coating hanging off the clips. Even the grippy dots pop off. These clips are nearly single use. They've pretty much fallen apart within a week of putting them in for the first time. If they were coated in something more durable or even uncoated, they would be great. But it's too wasteful to keep buying more and more every few weeks and I'm going to have to find a different product. Read more

Will these grip your hair and keep flyaways in-check? Absolutely. I've worn them while running and they do not slip. Will they pull your hair out? Also yes. Because of their design, they routinely snag & pull my hair so that I have to be extra careful when removing them. If you have lots of extra hair to spare, I guess it's not a big deal. Will the coating peel off? For sure, and within only a week or so of use. You'll find bits and pieces of that coating everywhere.We'll probably be colonizing Mars in the near future, but we clearly can't yet design & manufacture a no-slip clip that doesn't pull hair and actually retains its coating. Bought literally 100's of snap clip barrettes, but they all slip down no matter what kind I get. These have a silicone rubber coating which keep them from slipping, and they actually work. They are a little hard to figure out because of the three prong design (that part is what goes into your hair first, then you snap the regular looking one to close it. Be sure it says rubber coated on it, I understand there are two types.Besides thinning out with age, I have very slippery hair, even when it was thick, and found it hard to keep barrettes in place, I could have used these back in the day! I buy a lot of these clips. I have thick, curly hair and I find that this style of clip is best for securing my hair. The reason I have given 2 stars is because I have to keep buying these because the paint chips off almost immediately. Sometimes they even arrive chipped. And then they start rusting. I have fine straight hair, and most barrettes slide right off after a short time. These clips are nice and grippy. They will eventually work themselves loose, but usually hold up for the whole day before that happens. The only thing I don't like is that sometimes when I take them out they pull a hair or two out with them. I can usually avoid that if I pay attention and remove them carefully.I originally gave these 4 stars but have changed to 2 stars. After less than a month of use, the black coating is flaking off so the clips are now an unattractive mix of the original black with the grey metal underneath showing in many places. Read more
