So, up until 2 weeks ago I have showered every single day. I had to because I have long, very fine, thin hair and if I don't, it looks completely lifeless and horrible without a wash and blow dry. 2 weeks ago I got extensions put in (for thickness, not length) and suddenly washing and drying it takes twice the time it used to. Not only that but I now find I can wash it every other day and it looks fine, so I suddenly found myself needing a shower cap for the first time ever. I happened to have a hotel one laying around that I used for a few days but water would get it and those aren't meant to be re-used much. So, I ordered this one and so far I'm a big fan! Here's what I like:- WATER STAYS OUT: Even with a full coverage plastic/vinyl shower cap, the humidity and moisture often finds its way inside, wetting the edges of my hair line or making my whole head just a little damp. That is NOT a problem with this shower cap because it is lined with terry cloth fabric which absorbs moisture the moment it sneaks in.- HAIR STAYS IN: The elastic band of this cap is really substantial and snug. See my pictures for hair length type, but trust me when I tell you that it's larger enough to hold a LOT of hair and keep it in! Not a single hair has slipped out yet and I feel like I have plenty of room to spare in there for even more hair!- CUTE PATTERN: I'm a pretty no frills gal and love that this is a very simple and stripped down shower cap without ruffles and bows and silly things like that. It's a shower cap, but I loved a good hounds-tooth pattern!The only thing I don't love so much about this cap is that the elastic band can get uncomfortable quickly. It's tight which I like, but it would be nice if the elastic were covered with a softer material. After showering and taking it off, I've always got a pretty gnarly red ring around my face that usually takes 20-30 minutes to fade entirely. For the length of a shower it's fine, but I don't know that I would be able to enjoy a long luxurious soak in my jetted tub for example without it getting pretty uncomfortable. Even still, it's not a deal breaker in the least. I highly recommend this shower cap for people with long, thick hair that want to keep complete dry in the shower! It works great and is cute to boot! This is the second Betty Dain terry lined shower cap that I've purchased. The first lasted over a year before the elastic failed, so I didn't mind replacing it. This one has already failed, after only a month and a half of every-other-day use for about 10 minutes in the shower. Since it's about 2 weeks outside of the return window, I'm stuck with a floppy shower cap. You can see in the photo, about half of the elastic is no longer tight and bunched up. Bummer. Read more

This cap could dub as a torture device. Good things first: the design is pleasing, plastic is of decent quality, good and not too fluffy terry lining, and no weird smells of any kind... BUT all these good quality evaporate once you put the cap on - it's like a barbed wire is running across your skull - the edge of the cap is so poignantly painful and guarantees a deep grove on your forehead and a blinding headache not even during the shower - but by the time you lift your leg to get into the shower. I am a firm believer in when people make things - they should test what they made on themselves first. Before you send it to other people - try it on your wife. So I had originally ordered the Boudoir Printed Shower cap and LOVED it. So much so that when I accidentally left it at a hotel I decided to order another one but thought I'd change up the pattern this time. I ordered the Houndstooth this go around and when it arrived I put it on once and it was SO tight just like some of the reviews have mentioned. I think it is the Houndstooth pattern only! I've re-ordered the Boudoir one again and it is great! 4 stars only because I love the Boudoir print one but the bad experience with the Houndstooth take is down a star. Read more

I like to read reviews from people who have had the product and actually used it for some time rather than first impressions, so here's mine: everything about the shower cap was great, I like the terry cloth lining and size and print, but the elastic did break after about 8 months of use. I used it like a normal person and hung it to dry after use, didn't use it excessively and I don't have a weirdly massive head with gobs of hair to hold in. Updated review:My original review was 5-Star. But I t’s been a few months since I started using it and now I hate it. I washed it weekly in a gentle cold cycle with Tide detergent. The problem is that by the second use every week, the shower cap started to smell “mildewy” again. The pungent odor drove me nuts! So gross and annoying. I found good quality disposable shower caps at CVS ($2.95 for 15) that can handle my long hair and am happy again.////////Old review:So so so much better than any disposable cap! It keeps my hair perfectly dry. I like that it keeps a great seal around my head, but it really feels a bit uncomfortable because of the material on the elastic band. The tightness is great for the purpose of a shower cap, but the material is a rough vinyl of some sort and because it's tight, it's borderline painful on my forehead and sometimes leaves a read line when I take it off.They really should have lined the inside of the elastic with something soft like the inside of the cap itself. That would make this thing seriously perfect. I'm looking into modifying it myself to alleviate this little issue. Overall though, I'm quite happy because it's a hell of a lot better than those disposable plastic caps.Also, I'm a guy and, although no one really ever sees me wearing this, I'm glad I found something good with a gender neutral look. This is the second shower cap I've had from Betty Dain. I originally bought the leopard print one (not really my style but not many choices at the time) quite a few years ago and it's served me very well since - it started to smell musty at one point so I put it in the wash and it came out fine. The elastic finally went on one side so I replaced it with this one.This cap was slightly more expensive than others in the range at the time but I much prefer the design over my previous leopard print one. It's quite girly - pink with French themed illustrations of the Eiffel Tower, flowers, beauty essentials and French text.The best part about these shower caps is the size - I only have mid-length fine hair but I tie it up in a bun and it's so roomy, the back of my head has never gotten wet while wearing these caps. I imagine it's suitable for most hair types as it's really generous in size compared to most shower caps I've tried.The elastic is quite tight (especially compared to my ageing old one) so it doesn't let water in, for a quick shower it's fine, but I used it while having a lengthy bath and ended up with lines on my forehead! The towelling inside is ideal as unlike plastic lined caps, there's no condensation / that sweaty feeling when wearing it.I'd 100% recommend Betty Dain shower caps and would replace mine again if the elastic goes again. They look and feel high quality so hopefully this one will also last me for years to come. Read more

Are you fed up with small, badly made shower caps? We were but this one is big enough to cover long hair. It is lined in soft, pink terry cloth so it's comfortable and provides an extra layer to protect your hair from damp. As a bonus the cap does not feel or smell 'plasticy' and the elastic edge is soft and properly covered to give the cap a comfortable fit around the face. Read more

These shower caps are more expensive than those I have found in the shops, but they are also the only ones I have found that actually fit me. (I must admit to having a larger than average head and quite a lot of hair). I bought this as a replacement for one that I bought about 18 months previously as the elastic had stopped functioning. It's a pity that shops in the UK don't seem to sell these. The only suppliers appear to be in the USA. Read more

Finally something that fits and does not fall off. Very substantial. Appreciate that not everyone wants to pay this much for a shower cap but you really get what you pay for.
