Doesn’t curl very well. I would not buy this again. Read more
At first I was confused as to how a tear drop shape curling wand would be any different than you're average round shaped wand. Based on the photos the shape was still mostly rounded and I had no clue what to expect. Well, if you're looking to achieve beautiful beachy waves, this tool will do that for you. I often struggled creating nice, textured waves with my usual round curling wand that I often have to incorporate styling products just to work in the texture. But this tear drop shape wand really does what it says and I totally love it. I got a handful of compliments the day I styled my hair with this wand. Beachy waves versus regular curls, there's a huge difference. Now the only thing I'll gripe about this tool is that it takes a little longer to heat up and that there isn't a digital screen that shows the temperature. I'm a modern woman I expect more than just a simple numbered dial. The light flashes while it heats up and then stays steady when ready. I also want to add that it is comfortable to hold and style with AND lightweight which is a huge plus for me since I like to pack a good curling wand with me when travelling and don't want too much added weight to my bag. If you want beautiful, beachy waves, I highly recommend this wand from Remington. For a $20 styling tool, you're getting professional results without the high cost. Read more
I found the curls this wand gave me to be unique! Definitely beach wavy if you do thicker sections. But you could also get some fun, tighter 1920's style waves too (with product and small enough sections). But with that said, this wand did not work well on my hair type. I have very thick, frizzy, long hair. My hair needs an awful lot of consistent, close up heat for a curl to hold and last. Unfortunately, this wand doesn't have a clamp closure. And so it's was impossible for me to get my hair close enough throughout the entire length of a strand. I've had this problem with every curling iron tool that you used your fingertips, so I can't necessarily blame this product or say it wasn't expected. I considered leaving it at five stars because I still believe the product performs as promised. And I think it would work great for lots of hair types. With that said, this curling iron still gets very hot. I burnt my fingertips and the sides of my hands a couple times, even after I felt I had learned to use it properly. I will say that I am surprise this didn't come with heat resistant gloves. It's been 36 hours since I last curled my hair with a wand, and the skin that I burned is still sensitive. So they were real burns, and for the lack of gloves I deducted the star.I'll still keep it around and use it for fun occasions, but for me it's not one that would use everyday. I would recommend it still as a fun addition! Read more
Shape of barrel is interesting...initially, the wave it makes kinda looks like I've made a mistake in the way I've wrapped my hair because of the hard line caused by the top of the teardrop shape of the barrel. But once I let my hair cool, I run my fingers through it to break up the waves and it looks better.Even still, I'm not fond of how my hair looks when I use this barrel shape throughout my whole head. I have a lot of hair and I find this looks too messy and not in a good way. It's not super comfortable to hold either and I constantly hit the temp dial while I'm gripping the handle and wrapping my hair. Not the worst iron I've tried...but if I had a choice, I wouldnt pick this.I hope my humble opinion helps you in some way...and I hope that you have a good hair day. 💇♀️Thank you for reading. This review is for: Remington Teardrop Barrel Curling Wand, for Textured Waves. This is my first teardrop style curling wand because I wanted to try out the beachy / texture waves style. This one did indeed heat up fairly quickly within 30 seconds, and there is a red light that flashes while it’s heating up as soon as you turn it on via a push button that slides up and down. The design of the wand doesn’t include a way for you to hold onto the hair except your hands. This is the part that was tricky for me because you don’t want to burn your hand. I still like the old styles that allow you to clip your hair but this gives it a more beachy carefree look.I wanted a less curled look, so I had it turned via the temperature dial to midway and the result was a very light look. I do think you have to heat it up hotter to get better curls though because if you follow the directions on the box to do 10-15 seconds it won’t be enough curling time. Read more
This is a good, basic, handy for travel, curling wand from Remington - which I always think, if you are going for low price electronics, go with a brand that is known! It is no frills, you get the wand that does heat up to 400 degrees so you might want to consider protective gloves and a heat mat as the little stand is not the best or most effective. It has an old school temperature wheel so beyond the highest setting it is not really useful at all to know what temperature it is actually set to but again, as its bargain price, you are not going to get the bells and whistles like a digital read.It takes a moment to heat up, when its ready the light will show and it does create cute, soft beachy waves with little effort. It is also lightweight so useful both during use and travel Read more
I always struggle to achieve the messy curl look with a traditional curling iron. This teardrop wand makes it so simple! The shape is genius. I was concerned there would be hard lines in the curls and there are not (see photo). It heats up quickly and you don’t have to turn it to the highest heat setting in order for it to curl nicely. Directions inside tell you exactly how to curl with this wand in case you’ve never tried the style before. I’m so glad I tried thud wand! Read more
