On the first try, there were excessive amount of steam and a strong burnt smell. I continued using in hopes that it was normal and ignored the growing burnt smell.I gave it a second shot. I purchased this flat iron after using it while visiting family. I traveled out of state and, thankfully, left my subpar flat iron at home. So, I asked to borrow one... and this is the one they owned. My hair is naturally curly, thick and long. So, it usually takes FOREVER to straighten all my hair. With this flat iron, I can straighten each section of my hair in ONE pass! The pearl ceramic plates also leave my hair shiny and smooth. I primarily use this to curl my hair and it does an excellent job but straightens hair just as well. I had this same model for 5 or 6 years before it died and when I needed a new one I bought the one on Amazon that had all the best reviews. I ended up returning that one and ordered this one instead. It's inexpensive, heats up fast, the plates are longer so you can style hair faster, and the locking mechanism is handy. It's an all around great purchase. (For reference I have medium length, thick, wavy hair but it works great for finer, longer hair as well. Unsure if it has the power to tame super curly hair but I would give it a shot.) Read more

My wife wanted to have a new unit to replace an older 2" that she has had for a while. I read good reviews on this unit and it had better reviews that the replacement model of the one she had. I took a gamble since the exact replacement unit was almost $100 more than this one. So far she loves it for the 2 weeks she has been using it. Don't let the price scare you away. I used to have a 2 inch flat iron that lasted for years and it finally gave up the ghost. I was gifted a Chi flat iron, and it’s nice, but I have thick curly hair so it took me FOREVER to get my hair straight with it. I also couldn’t control the temperature on it. But this product is 10 times better than that expensive Chi. You can adjust the temperature easily and it heats up really fast. I can straighten all of my hair in less than a half hour (and it’s thick and goes down to the bottom of my shoulder blades). I also don’t have to go over each section nearly as much with this product, and my hair with stay straight for 2-3 days. I highly recommend this over any of the “designer” flat irons. Read more

For the price not worth I have heard using the Remington diamond and works 8x faster than this one and it's cheaper and you can find it in local Walmart target etc honestly disappointed I impulsively bought this one the 1 inch plate one also and another 2 inch player of this pearl one for my mother not having known that it's no good takes forever to straighten hair I had to pass it like 6 times on every strand to get the result I get with the Remington diamond in just 2 passes 😔 Read more

I purchased this hair straightener as I wanted a 2" instead of my regular GHD 1" to create bigger curls with. I used this straightener and it ended up burning the ends of my hair! This product can go to an incredibly high temperature that I wouldn't recommend for fine/blonde/curly hair as it's more likely to break the ends of your hair due to the incredibly high heat temp.For comparison, my GHDs temperature is set at 180c/356f and the Remington can get as hot as 232c/450f which is FAR too hot for people with thin/curly/blonde hair as it can cause irreversible damage. On the upside the Remington does come with a temperature control so you can change the settings to be lower if desired but fair warning to those who do not know this/think they can use the higher settings on their hair and then suffer these consequences. I ended up having to trim my hair slightly to cut off the dead ends but thankfully only tested this straightener on one strip of hair, so I got lucky!This straightener also doesn't make my hair feel as soft as my GHDs do when they're ran through my hair, but this is a $40 straightener and for the price it's not so bad as long as you are aware of the high heat settings before using it! Definitely recommend researching your hair type and how hot you can use this straightener at before giving it a test run, as you don't want to cause damage to your lovely locks! Read more

La plancha es la mejor de la linea Remington, calienta hasta los 450°F como decía en la publicación, en un minuto alcanza la temperatura y la mantiene y cuando está lista hace un sonido para avisarte que ya está lista para usarse, tiene las placas rosas y los botones también es muy muy bonita físicamente y deja el cabello super liso, suave y muy brillante, por el tamaño grande de las placas (4.5 cm) permite alisar más rápido el cabello ya que puedes tomar mechones más gruesos, además que puedes hacer ondas también, lo más impresionante es que aunque el clima este húmedo el alisado permanece, tiene cable giratorio y botones digitales para el encendido y control de la temperatura, yo tengo el cabello grueso y la uso en 370° para alisar y 350° para hacerme ondas, realmente la recomiendo si tienes el cabello largo o si tienes mucho cabello o muy rebelde ya que te ahorrará tiempo y facilitará el momento de peinarte, ahora que si no lo tienes problemas para alisar el cabello creo que también te funcionará. Sin duda la mejor plancha que he tenido no dudes en comprarla es una muy buena inversión, vale mas de lo que cuesta, además que me llegó 1 día antes de lo acordado y en perfectas condiciones. I purchased this straightener for myself after getting one for my friend as a gift and hearing her rave reviews. I have been using this product regularly for the last five years and it is still working well to straighten my hair, though it does not hold heat as well as it used to. This iron significantly reduces frizz on my fine hair. This is compact and travels well, though I haven't brought it to use outside of North America as I'm not sure it's dual voltage.This straightening iron effectively curls hair as well and serves as a multipurpose tool, though I would suggest combing through the curls and passing your hair through quickly to avoid having curls that are too tight. Yesterday one of the ceramic plates stopped heating up and now the straightener automatically turns off after 1 minute of use as it cannot reach temperature with only one plate left working.
