This product was altered and not an official Pureology product. As soon as I started using it my head was itching. It took me awhile to realize. I finally went to Ulta and bought the product in person. In comparing the Amazon purchase with the Ulta purchase the fragrance was different. As soon as I started using the new product the itching stopped. I had to throw away the Amazon product - which pained me given how pricey Pureology is. I find it unacceptable that Amazon doesn’t require legitimate products. Consumers are getting swindled. I bought this product thinking it was the real PUREOLOGY Hydrate Shampoo. What a disappointment! It ran out of the bottle and did not have the fragrance, nor the feel of the real thing. Absolutely do not like the smell. The bottle are very small and due to their small size and the thickness of the bottle it is difficult to get the shampoo out. It does clean your hair but the smell is a put off for me. Read more

I have used many of the other Pureology products, (in fact it is one of the few brands I use) but something in this moisturizing shampoo from Pureology was just not right. I had a severe allergic reaction to it and had to take medication to stop all the scratching I was doing to my head. I had a red rash on my body and arms.Unfortunately I bought the conditioner, hair glaze, and deep conditioner in the jar in this formula.I don’t know if Amazon will take it back. I used up my two other “ flavors of Pureology before trying this one. I would love to get a refund on it since I haven’t opened the other 3 products. I recently dyed my hair pink, and these fashion colors are notorious for fading very quickly. I thought I would try this shampoo as a way of helping maintain the color longer. Big mistake! It not only did not hold the color in any better than my old shampoo (I watched it wash down the drain as I shampooed), for some reason it turned my normally smooth hair into a dry, tangled mess! Even in the shower I could feel it becoming sticky and tangled. I had to apply massive amounts of hair conditioner in order to get my hair back to normal and blow it out. I used this Pureology shampoo only once and then tossed it. I can’t imagine who this works for, since I have fairly healthy but slightly dry, thick hair - exactly who it’s advertised for! I was really excited about buying this shampoo and conditioner set. I wanted to splurge on my hair and give myself the best hair color protectant and nourisher. I have now used this product for several months. The scent of the shampoo is refreshing, and the conditioner makes my hair feel very soft and combable. HOWEVER, my hair started to fall out in bunches!! At first, I thought this was just my age and changes in hormones. But the change was just too significant, and kindof horrifying. So I finally switched to a natural shampoo and conditioner (which also works really well, has nice scent, and leaves hair soft). And after 1 short week, my hair loss has reduced to normal amounts. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED that I spent over 100$ on this shampoo/conditioner set, and it is HARMFUL to my scalp. This product now claims the unlikely honor of being the worst shampoo I've ever used. I've been using it for about a week, and my hair is now a huge, frizzy mess. Now THAT is an impressive accomplishment, because I have very fine, limp hair that I usually struggle to add any volume to. Using this product has left me at the other end of the spectrum, which an unmanageable head of hair that's frizzed out beyond belief. YIKES.I've been using this shampoo for years, and have purchased both from my salon and here at Amazon. (Apparently Amazon became an official Pureology reseller a couple years ago.) My latest purchase of the big 33.8 fl oz bottle was definitely suspect. Is the product old? Expired? Has something in the formula changed? (Pureology claims that it hasn't, but maybe one of their suppliers changed the formula of one of the ingredients and didn't tell them?)I'm returning this, at any rate, because there's no way I'm going to deal with another day of this crazy hair situation. Pureology, do some research! You claim that you're selling authentic products here at Amazon, AND that the formula hasn't changed. Well, a lot of reviews here seem to indicate otherwise. Complete fake do not order. The bottle is wrong colour the shampoo doesn’t smell as it should and it’s not a nice smell. Also all purelogy products are sealed and this bottle wasn’t. This shampoo is not the same as previous ones that I have purchased -it lathers up creating an abundance of suds and leaves the hair with a greasy coating. Two days later my hair is greasy and needs washing again. This shampoo is not the usually recipe, something has changed and it is not worth the money. I have my doubts that it is not genuine. I've got long, think, dry hair. This shampoo is amazing! The scent is gorgeous! (The matching conditioner has a different scent which I'm less keen on, but still use because it's so good& once my hair has been dried, it doesn't hold onto the smell of that anyway, it seems to hold onto the beautiful scent from the shampoo).It makes my hair shiny, glossy, smooth, easy to manage and on top of that, I get an extra day out of it before needing to wash my hair again. I love the way my hair feel after using the strength cure shampoo and conditioner and also the hydrating shampoo and conditioner, although I don’t really like the scent of the hydrate shampoo and the conditioner is like a minty smell and feel, I don’t like that feeling on my hair or body so I don’t know if I would repurchase the conditioner, the shampoo I would repurchase, but will definitely be repurchasing the strength cure I love it. Very odd scent! My hair does feel strong and soft after use but I bought this to help with maintaining hair colour as description suggests but I actually think it helped to strip the colour faster, noticed hair colour difference after washes....not really the point. As a general shampoo on natural hair I imagine it would be very good! Read more
