Here are the facts in my case: I was diagnosed with a large prostate, but other symptoms were minimal. My PSA was 4.8. I have had several bouts with Prostatitis over the years the last time about 2 years ago. I was usually prescribed a course of antibiotics, but this last time they did not work, and I had symptoms that ranged from mildly irritated to severe. I am 71 and have been using different brands of prostrate formulas for over 10 years. A couple of years ago I had to switch from another brand to Prostavar which worked great [2 tabs a day - 1 every 12 hours]. It seems as you get older your prostate of course does as well. I started having plumbing issues [An enlarged prostate puts pressure on the urethra, which can affect how you urinate. Signs of an enlarged prostate can include: difficulty starting or stopping urinating and a weak flow of urine.] I had to upgrade to Prostavar ULTRA along with a prescription for Flomax (Tamsulosin) from the doctor.
