So after reading the mixed reviews on this product I have come to the conclusion, that some people expect miraculous change overnight or after a single use from a bar of soap (because they aren't realistic enough to realize its just soap, or that they lack a brain) . It took about 2-3 days for me to notice a change. The fact is that what works for one, does not always work for another. There are way to many factors to say this is a cure all for all that is bad about your beard. That said, I really like this shampoo, YES its a BAR form, or more precisely a block. YES it is a very Earthy / Wood Scent. It DOES NOT replace things like a good quality beard balm or beard oil, but a great compliment to these products. Previously I had been using just shampoo and a good quality conditioner on a daily basis to keep my beard from being the Brillo pad/ wire brush constancy it normally is. I now only use this soap along with a good beard balm, as it did get rid of the dry skin and beard dandruff that was caused by my original method of care (shampoo and conditioner) . My beard is not only softer but also more manageable, so it did as it said it would. IT WILL NOT straighten your beard or de-tangle it, That's what a comb and/or a brush are for. IT WILL NOT make your beard shine like your super dope wheels on your 90's Honda, but will be shinier than the flat paint or powder coat on your fixie bike. Be real its an all natural Soap that does a good job of cleaning and conditioning. The only negative that I found to this block that will likely last me at least 2 months is the $12 price point, But that's for you to decide if a product that can replace two others and keep your beard clean is worth it... Great beard shampoo, my face and beard felt great after using it and you can feel it working right after you lather up with it. I had a problem with beard flake that I could just not get rid of. I use beard oil and beard balm and nothing seem to help, or even lessen, the bear dandruff from snowing like a winter storm. After some research I discovered that head shampoo is one of the worst things I can use on my beard. I even tried the dandruff shampoo and it made no difference at all. So, I decided to do some research and discovered beard shampoo was the thing to use. beard shampoo and hair shampoo are totally different animals entirely as they serve different purposes.I decided to hit the internet and researched the best beard shampoo to try and Professor Fuzzworthy's Beard Shampoo was at the top of several list. When I bought this shampoo I was a little confused at the cube of soap I received. This has the extra side benefit of lasting much longer than a liquid shampoo when used. I also got the magnetic shower holder to keep the bar out of the water. If it sits in the water it will dissolve until there is nothing left. Same if you let it sit under running water.After the research was done I decided to give it a try and see how well it works. The first few days I didn't really notice much of a difference at all. I decided to stick with it for a while anyway as I knew it would take time to do it's thing. After the fourth day I noticed that the beard flake was much less noticeable. After a week it was all gone with no sign of beard dandruff anywhere. I still do the beard oil and balm after the shower on top of the shampoo. I have gone to washing my beard every other day and still no beard flake. It seems to soften the beard up slightly as well. My wife even noticed a difference in the texture after a week or so. I got a long beard that touches my upper chest, wavy, stiff like wire. I've always used natural handmade soap on it, decided to give this a shot due to the reviews.Smells good, does lather A LOT, no complains there. Doesn't leave my beard too dry after wash. BUT ... after 2-3 uses I did see a bald spot near my chin. I wanted to defend the product and thought it was probably my carb supplement that caused an insulin imbalance. Stopped using that, did rule out health / psychological factors, I am a healthy active person in my late 20s. Stopped using both the carb supplement and the shampoo and didn't see any more spots. Later decided to give the shampoo a shot again. Was fine for 2 days and again noticed a patch. So there's definitely something about it that upsets my skin. Luckily after I stopped using it, i did see some new hairs growing in one of the patches but the other (newer one) is still bald.I've never seen this type of balding before with any of the products that I've used nor supplements. so THIS is what a real beard shampoo will do!!!!! i’ve been using “head” shampoo forever..... i just assumed the cardboard paper feeling after was normal.... in just ONE WASH.... i could feel the relaxing feeling AS i worked this into my beard. as soon as i washed it out, my frizzy beard was laying DOWN. it was all pointed down!!!! i was so amazed. I researched a lot of similar offerings for beard care and it was obvious that a lot of them were remora fish clones attached to the shark of hipsterdom, ( which thankfully has abated I hope). So, lots of witty names, pictures, and flashy marketing. However, when I looked at all the ingredients across the board, I noted a LOT of substances that I wouldn't want on my skin, in my food, or on my hair. Now, this product also has a somewhat pretentious name...but it can be forgiven based on its overall quality. Very organic feel and highly recommended. I've tried more beard shampoo products than I care to mention, and this is one of the best I've had.It's a little more work to handle and you'll need a good quality soap dish to keep it in, personally I've used a lush metal tin whicb was excellent but not quite big enough.The product gives a fantastic finish and doesn't leave a huge amount of scent behind a good quality shampoo especially for longer grisly beards.The product will last very well meaning its value for money is excellent, especially again for those of us with the need to waste 4+ times a week, its not too harsh and combined with a good condition every week will have your beard being the envy of shaven men everywhere.I'd recommend it and will purchase again the best competitor I have found is twice the cost and lasts half the time, its a good product at an awesome price. So recently been switching up to natural products. This one came highly recommended from fellow beardies so had to give it a go.I have a fairly bushy beard, about 6 months worth of growth but I only need the tiniest amount of this soap. Wet it once, rub on either side of the beard and a couple times on the chin and 'stache and it lathers up beautifully. Truly amazing. After washing my beard with this soap I don't think I could go back to using anything else. Tad bit expensive but you get what you pay for. You only need rub a tiny bit on your beard and it lathers up amazingly. The smell is amazing too. It leaves my beard feeling squeaky clean and soft. My first beard wash and I am happy with it. Cleans your beard very nicely and it has a woodsy kind of smell which does not linger, it softens your beard a bit too which is a plus but you need some beard oil afterwards.
