I really like this product. I use it to cover gray. I think some people make the mistake of trying to use it like a crayon to scribble the color into place. In actuality, it works much better if you just make several streaks, with open spots between streaks, in the area you are trying to cover. Then take a make up sponge, or even a tissue, and rub it through your hair to blend the color together and remove excess product. These are NOT chalk AT ALL. How the hell they can even call them that, I do not understand. These are more like eyeliners, but softer and oilier. They deposit a lot of color onto hair but it's a MESS. Wipes right off, SMEARS everywhere. You could NEVER touch your hair once this stuff is in your hair, or sleep on a white pillowcase. It'd be EVERYWHERE.Tried using them as eyeliners but they're so oily thin - they melt onto your skin with your body heat, like a body butter that becomes oil on the skin - they just go everywhere. If you tried to wear them as eyeliner and you blinked a few times, you'd have this stuff all over your face. These are literally solid butters that melt into an oil with body heat. HUGE MESS. I saw a lot of posts on here about this product being messy and difficult to wash out. It is a bit messy and does not come out with just shampoo. BUT, this is what I did to get it out of very blonde hair. Use Dawn dish soap and a wash cloth. Rub the dish soap in the hair like shampoo and lather. Then use a wet wash cloth to wipe it off as you are rinsing it out. This method got it off pretty quickly. Then I used the wash cloth with a little dish soap on it to make sure any residue was wiped off the face, body and surrounding area (bathtub or shower floor). It will stick to everything as it is rinsed down the drain, so just wash from top to bottom with the dish soap and cloth. Got to draw on the dog for Halloween. He has sensitive skin and allergies, and this didn’t seem to irritate him at all (he was Petey from The Little Rascals, so we only drew one big circle around one eye). It was completely gone in 3 days, and had smeared / faded to half as dark by the end of the night, but he is a dog and didn’t give a heck if he rubbed his face on something and smeared it, or got pets and smeared it. This temporary hair cover is very awful!! It smears & rubs off where you can see it very good on lite colored (shirts) clothing... plus when you take a shower the black chalk just runs down your body & gets all in the tub...& it gets on shower curtains! This stuff is very messy & so hard to clean off of your clothes, tub, body, face, skin, & lower body when it runs down. It stains wash rags & towels!! Not worth it. Don't buy!!! I'm in my 60s and my friend and I thought we'd try these for fun. She's a blonde and I have dyed burgundy hair. We put some pink streaks in and they came out great! They lasted quite a long time as well. A couple of things..your pillow case will get stained so use a dark one :) Also, apply to damp hair and it will adhere better. I really like these because you draw it on, almost like a foundation or concealer stick, and it's not messy. I've used those mascara wands with dye, they're really messy and feel like you could get it all over very easily. I've also used Rita Hazen temporary dye spray, which is also prone to being sprayed places you don't want it to go. These are easy to use and provide coverage quickly and thoroughly. Read more
