I ordered this car seat while in the hospital after my preemie was born. My daughter was born 4 weeks early weighing in at less than 5 lbs, a surprise to us all. Before she was born, I was eyeing it, but had already received another car seat as a gift, the Orbit G3. Unfortunately and fortunately, my daughter was too small for the Orbit so I ordered this one. Peg Perego has long been known as the go to brand for premium infant seats, known for their safety and attractive Italian styling.I give this seat a solid 4 stars and this is why. I will now share the good and the bad of this seatThe GOOD:This seat is sleek and sexy, especially in the Licorice design. The seat features authentic Italian styling and stitching that I would expect from the interior of a high-end sports car. We choose the black as it is gender-neutral and matches in the interior of my SUV. Out of all of the baby products for our daughter, daddy-to be picked out this one.The seat feels like a tank and not super plastic-y as many on the market do. Aside from it's physical appearance, the interior is made of high-quality neoprene- like material that keeps baby cool and is super easy to clean. The seat comes with 2 stages of padding for smaller infants, essential for preemies. These are great as they come with the seat from the manufacture so you con't have to worry about the safety of positioning a newborn with a rolled-up blanket. The seat features elastic shots to place the harness clips in while not in use. Although, I have only used this feature once, it seems to be a relatively new feature among high-end infant seats. The UPPAbaby Mesa also features harness slots. The sunshade is large and light in weight, but offer 50 UV protection, which I much prefer over covering my infant in chemical-filled sunscreen. This brings me to another point that attracted me to this particular seat. It is made in Italy! I looked long and hard for infant products made in the USA or Europe as so many are made cheaply in China and covered in harmful chemicals, not what I want to expose my little one to. The Orbit G3 seat also claims to be made without harmful chemicals, but it is made in China and is at a much higher price point than the Peg. The Orbit also have very limited compatibility with travel systems.Travel systems, another advantage of the Peg is that as a well-known and established infant seat. Travel system adapters are readily available, purchased separately, of course. I use the Peg with my Bugaboo Chameleon3 and Bob Revolution Flex! With the added adapters this car seat clicks in and makes two great travel systems! The BAD:I removed a star due to the canopy. The canopy only has one locking-position while covering the baby and it is very difficult to carry the seat with it up. The previous generation of Peg seat had a raised rubberized handle to carry. This one does not and I often have to physically hold the sunshade over my daughter while carrying the seat which weighs a ton. Yes, the seat is heavy, I don't doc the seat much for this because the seat is solid and I equate it's weight with quality and safety.Overall, I recommend this seat to new parents who are looking for a high-end infant seat that offers safety and quality. Dear Peg Perego....I had a peg perego car seat 6 years ago for my oldest. It's now out of date (that was quick!!!) and now i'm having twins so i've got to order all different stuff. The peg perego book for two was the best stroller out of all the ones I tried and so now I'm stuck I have to use a peg perego car seat. Really held out hopes that the car seat canopy would be improved by now but nope....still tiny compared to most (I ordered 5 different brands to try and peg perego canopy was HALF the coverage of all the others. Also still can't loop your arm through while the pathetic canopy is up. Still only goes up or down and nothing in between. The only thing they seem to have done with the canopy is to make it a see-through ultra-thin fabric making it even more flimsy than it was before! You're not the cheapest car seat, and these things are so basic! Why can't they fix it already??? The inside of this one is nice with a foamy sort of material and I like the leather around the outside that I could wipe but the canopy is such a fail it's just annoying. However here I am ordering 2 because it's the only option that works with the peg perego book stroller which is nice! Literally scouring the internet for a different stroller just in case there's an option not to use peg perego's car seat Read more

As a viaggio SIP 30/30 owner, I can say this is a much improved version.+ base is much more secure and doesn’t rebound with the new rebound bar+ much lighter than older model+ handle bar is easier to flip with the new buttons+ easier to remove seat from base+ base edges are round rather than shape+ base tilt is adjustable based on baby’s weight- takes up 5+ inches of room and might be an issue for tall driver in smaller cars/compact suv- canopy material is much thinner than before- canopy is not secured and can easily come off Read more

Overall, I love the brand and am confident in the safety of the seat. I took off a star because the seat has an older manufacture date and will expire in 4 years making me need to replace it sooner than I would with a seat manufactured this year. Also, as soon as I bought it, Buy buy baby and amazon lowered the price, so I wish I had not purchased it so soon and waited for the price to drop (or purchased a different seat). I removed another star because the portion where the lap belt goes over the seat when you aren’t using the base is not big enough for the seat belt to fit snugly in and secure the car seat. Notice the handle has a purple opening on each side that you could sew the seat belt into if you are using the car seat without the base? That opening is too narrow. For the money, I wish I bought a different seat. Read more
