First off there’s nothing more disappointing than getting your 1 year-old all excited opening up this new toy to find that not only are batteries not included but they’re D’s, four of them. So it’s not like those are just lying around the house. Bad product flaw in my opinion. Then the worst part. I got this toy and paid this much money for it specifically for the fact that it shoots balls for my son to chase after… Which as advertised, is one of its two functions. Well that’s not true After going out of my way and spending an extra $15 on batteries to turn this thing on, I find that no matter what direction I have the “nose nozzle” turned it will not shoot the balls away. Text sometimes I can’t even get the balls to come out anywhere because the blower or whatever just isn’t strong enough I’m assuming. And since I just put in the correct brand new batteries it’s obviously operating at full capacity. What a joke. Awful toy in general but absolute garbage when you spend over $30 for it. Read more
This has been my son’s favorite toy, and we’ve now purchased 3 of them. Not due to the fact that it’s favorite, but because they keep breaking. They’ve each worked for 1-2 months, and then the airflow loses power and the balls no longer pop out. I’ve tried everything and can’t get them to work again. Because it’s his favorite, I’ve just (stupidly) replaces them thinking it would get better. But turns out one isn’t a lemon, as they all have failed. Read more
This requires D batteries (not included) and after a few days of use the fan won't push the balls up and out any more. The kids get frustrated because they can't grab the balls and they don't float out like normal. The top basket rotates and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why. I guess to double as a handle to carry? My kids keep rotating it and it just prevents the balls from running their course. For $30+ I expected a little more functionality out of this... Read more
I bought this ball popper for my speech-language therapy practice, and it has been a huge hit! I have used the toy for the past 3-4 weeks, and it has experienced some abuse--we have used the blowing air to propel bubbles and pompoms in addition to the balls and my clients have already tried to pick off the stickers that decorate the front. It has also been pulled on and knocked over without any obvious damage. The off switch in the back is camouflaged and a real asset to sabotaging children into talking (none of my students have figured out the off switch yet.) Read more
The Playskool Explore N' Grow Busy Ball Popper seems to be the standard for fun ball poppers but I think this one is just as good in a different way. This was the first one my son took an interest in, we showed it to him before he could really sit-up and crawl and he'd reach out to it while we held him. The balls can all continuously feed back into itself if you twist the spout straight, so we didn't have to go chasing after them while we held him. The balls tend to escape more on the Playskool Explore N' Grow Busy Ball Popper which is a feature that can be good or bad depending on how your baby uses it. I will say I think the option to turn the top of the ball tray to use as a handle is silly and unnecessary, it already has a great small footprint without the top twisting, and it doesn't make a very good handle. The top twisting just makes it so my son accidentally twists it when dunking balls, and I need to straighten it so the balls can be fed into it. I don't think that one drawback is worth removing a whole star for since he truly enjoys this ball popper. Neither popper will support him pulling up on it to stand. Now that he's older he actually enjoys using this one and the Playskool Explore N' Grow Busy Ball Popper simultaneously. He gets them both going at once and moves the balls between the two (he's 10 months).Details different from Playskool Explore N' Grow Busy Ball Popper:Smaller footprintCan continuously feed itself with few balls going loose (if desired)Start button is easier to access and press from frontNOTE: If you want extra balls buy the officially ones from the Hasbro site, any others won't work as well. My baby LOVES this toy! He goes to it constantly. When the balls pop out, he'll pick them up and put them back in the toy. He loves activating the fan himself with the big easy button on top. This toy makes him grin ear-to-ear! It comes with only 4 balls, and they pop out quite frequently, so I ordered the replacement balls from the same brand. I won't lie, this toy is pretty loud because the music drowns out the fan noise, but the songs are enjoyable and not annoying. Read more
Both my one year old and 3 year old love this toy! I didnt realize it was going to be such a big win. Like most toys, I assumed they would like it for a couple days then not touch it again. Over a month later and they both still gather around the toy and giggle like crazy. The only con is, it's pretty loud and there's no way to control the volume so if one of the kids is sleeping it will probably wake them up. I bought this for Xmas but didn't know how to turn it on. Though it broke. Requested a replacement thinkimg it broke. Company sent the replacement in 2 days after I request return. It was quick. However turns out that I was wrong. I just didn't know how to turn it on.Turning on requires to turn the on bottom in the back, correct battery, and donf forget also press on the red ball that is on the elephants trunk.Otherwise its fun. Balls shooting into the slot and kids rubbung after the ball when it flies on. Kids love running after the balls and putting them into the slot.I only have this for 2 weeks so will see how it goes.Recommend the company to out better instruction on how to activate the toy Read more
Perhaps this would be better for a younger child, but I had purchased it for my 17 month old daughter. She and her.older brother initially absolutely loved it, but that shiny-ness ran out after only one day.Occasionally my daughter will play with it a little bit, but mostly it sits on the shelf which is dissapointing. One thing I did to add some more life to this toy was use a bubble wand over the vent hole and it really blew bubbles.quite well which thrills the kids each time! I'm not entirely impressed with this ball toy, my baby seems to like it but unfortunately he keeps trying to stand up with it and it tips over and he gets hurt. Also the green part flips to easily and I wish there was an ability to lock this so the balls don't fly out everywhere. Everytime my baby touches the toy he flips the green part down and then the balls just spill everywhere and he's only nine months old so he doesn't quite understand how to grab the balls and put them back in the machine. They just don't make air-ball toys the way they used to. It is also Extremely Loud and there isn't a setting to have quieter music so it's either on and very loud or off and useless. Read more
This was most definitely my son's favourite Christmas present! It's was a huge hit with all the kids at our family Christmas get-together!My son's speech therapist used a different ball popper to have him request different coloured balls using PECS. I was super happy to find one on here to be able to continue this activity at home :)The carry handle is an awesome feature for taking it on the go! Read more
Read more
My 1 year old loves this. I hate chasing the balls everywhere but it’s worth it for him. It’s a baby/toddler toy, it’s going to be loud. It sings and you can here the air when it’s runnibg but I don’t find it unreasonable loud. Seems on par compared to other age similar toys. It takes D batteries (which is s not irritating) make sure you have some.Adding: broke within a week of him playing with it. And I noticed it only came with 3 balls instead of 4... Read more
