PlanToys Sort & Count Cups provide an endless opportunity for open ended play for children 18+ months. The playset includes 5 bowls (red, green, blue, orange, and yellow) each measuring 3.3 x 3.3 x 1.4 inches. The bowls are made from PlanWood, a PlanToys composite wood. 15 wooden coin chips are also included and match the colors of the bowl. Each coin chip measure 1 3/8” in diameter. There are 5 red chips, 4 blue chips, 3 green chips, 2 orange chips, and 1 red chip. A cotton storage bag is also included so everything can be picked up and put away at the end of playtime. Children enhance their fine motor skills by placing the chips in bowls, stacking the bowls, and even pouring the chips from one bowl to another. The set can also be used to teach colors, counting, matching, stacking and a myriad of other activities that children will discover. My child is 12 months old and based on the other reviews and the age on packaging I tried giving these to her. They are absolutely a choking hazard. I’m super disappointed. It would be perfect, I love the concept- but it became a game for her to try to shove them in her mouth. They will be put up until she is more mature. i would not leave a child unsupervised with these for a second. I’m so confused how these aren’t considered a choking hazard. Read more
I bought this item to use in my Montessori classroom. I do have 2 year olds so choking hazards must be considered. When the product arrived, I tested the chips with a choke test tube. They passed the test so I feel safe putting them in my classroom. They are also made of thick wood so children cannot break them. Great product. Read more
I opened this up for my 17 month old daughter today and I am so impressed. This is by far one of the best toys we have purchased for her. The quality is immediately noticeable and oh my, the counting chips have the most satisfying "clink.". Of course the obvious is to use it to teach colors, matching and counting. But my daughter had a blast putting the bowls on her nose, stacking the bowls, carrying the bowls around the house without chips falling out, swishing the chips around in the bag, making it rain with chips. It's a fun open ended toy. A bit pricey but this will have longevity and I can't wait to purchase more Plan Toys. They have some serious manufacturing certifications and awesome products.Update: My daughter is almost 3 and can easily sort this now. But she uses it as play food/bowls in her kitchen sometimes. Sometimes she pretends it money. This is why I love open ended toys. I purposely do not buy her every kitchen accessory bc it encourages her imagination! My 10 month old son enjoys these too. My 18mo loves this toy! We don’t have it out all the time so the coins don’t get lost but he loves when I take it out for him. In the short time we have had it he has mastered sorting! We are working on learning colors now. Later on we can use it to count. He also loves stacking the coins and cups (not easily done so it challenges him), pretending they are cookies and feeding his toy animals, and scooping them up with his dump truck. This is a simple but versatile and quality toy. My daughter is almost 17 months and she loves it. She doesn’t put toys in her mouth but I still supervise while this toy is out given that the discs are rather small. I also love that they fit perfectly in her green toys recycling truck and has allowed her to get more use out of that toy as well. These are amazing. The cups are made of some composite material and the coins are probably bamboo, very smooth and nice. Good size to prevent a toddler from putting in their mouth. We use it now for color sorting but it will be great for counting too. The quality of all plan toys things we ever bought is amazing, highly recommend. Read more
I bought these chips and cups for a gift for a first birthday. This toy have been my 2 year-old grandson's favorite go-to plaything since he could sit up.
